Vehicle Detail
1942 Ford GPW S/N 72182. Purchased from local museum, used as a indoor static display for 27 years. All wheel cylinders rebuilt. New brake hoses installed. Master cylinder rebuilt. Hard lines replaced where necessary. Brake pads replaced where necessary. Parking brake mechanism working condition, new cable installed. Missing firewall bracket. Original transfer case damaged and included in sale. Was replaced with same type unit. Original GPW marked transmission. New bearings and gaskets installed on both the transfer case and the transmission. New transmission mount installed. Shifts normally. Transfer case shifts correctly with fully working 4 wheel drive. Kaiser supersonic engine installed and runs great Serial # 3553595. Excellent compression on all cylinders. The distributor is rebuilt and not stuck in the block, easily adjusted. 12 volt conversion done. New battery. Engine runs excellent, with no overheating/oil smoking issues. No strange sounds or knocks. Oil pressure normal. Carb rebuilt and new air filter installed. Small hole in muffler. Starter bendix does not engage every time but still works good enough not to need replaced. Tub exterior in excellent condition has been repainted but no rust through tub exterior panels. Some rust holes in glove box and tool boxes in rear area. Floor repairs done at sometime. Someone has filled the original bolt holes when painted but easily drilled out. Filler used was jb weld type filler. Hat channels rusty or cut out missing under floor. Frame generally looks good with area near clutch rod swelled some. Outboard fuel tank used. Extra parts shown are included: T-90 trans, with one of the shortened rear driveshaft necessary for installation. 2 spare differentials, front and rear. 4 ea. M-151 wheels as shown 1970 date code on one. Misc original parts, as removed, included as shown. Good candidate for a restoration or to be used as is. Tires on jeep dated 10-66 and one marked 1951 would need tires for driving at speeds above 30 That's as fast as I have had it up to not wanting to test the very old tires... What you see is what you get. Not a show winner but a 100% usable, excellent running, street legal ,1942 GPW Jeep. We drove the jeep memorial day. She is a real attention getter draws a crowd where ever you go.. Lots of fun.. The reserve was almost met last auction missed only by a few hundred dollars and has been removed. Tagged as a Texas Antique vehicle. She is 76 years old and could use some work, but who wouldn't at her age.. Any questions don't hesitate to ask...
