1963 Chevrolet Corvair Monza Spyder Vehicle Information VIN: 30967W260740 Stock: Mileage: 75,669 Color: Cordovan Brown Trans: 4-Speed Manual Engine: 145 CID 125 HP Flat-Six MPG: Drivetrain: RWD Description Be sure to check out the vehicle description for many, many more detailed photos! Vehicle relisted due to non-paying bidder. Folks... if you have no intention of following thru on the transaction then you shouldn't bid on the car when the reserve is off or certainly select the buy-it-now. Enough said. It’s finally time to part with my beloved Corvair. I’ve enjoyed this terrific, unique car for more than 25 years! It’s time to find its next owner that will enjoy it as much as I have. The Corvair was different from the start with its rear-mounted, flat-six engine and it is a part of American automotive history. Several different versions were offered by Chevrolet but this model is arguably one of the most sought after. Not only does this Monza Spyder have a convertible top and manual transmission, it also sports a factory turbocharger. Yes, a turbocharged engine in 1963! The car is a great driver and never fails to draw a crowd. It was repainted years ago by a prior owner in its original Cordovan Brown and the interior compliments nicely in a rich saddle color. The painted finish is older but still shines nicely. There are some small chips and scratches here and there from normal use. The paint on the right rear fender is cracking a bit and there is some faint staining on the top of the left rear fender as you can see in the photos below. There is a bit of bubbling in the paint on the lower rockers – also pictured. All in all a nice looking car for top down cruising. Back in the 90’s I replaced the seat covers and carpets with correct, original-style materials and as you can see it still looks great today! Over the years the car was driven sparingly and it was maintained when necessary. In 2013 I installed a beautiful set of New Old Stock (NOS) front and rear bumpers. Lower chrome engine grills from a 1964 models replaced the originals. There is some pitting on the rest of the chrome that you can see in the photos. I have also replaced the metal headlight surrounds that are typically damaged over the years. Even the small tabs on the factory wire wheel covers are intact to properly remove the covers when needed. Recently the carburetor was professionally rebuilt by the specialist shop Clark’s Corvair, and a new fuel pump and appropriate turbo engine fuel filter were installed. The car starts up and drives great. The manual transmission shifts easily and the four-wheel drum brakes function as they should. Ready for top-down summertime roadtrips. The convertible top is manual, not motorized. It is pretty easy to raise and lower. It is likely the original top from the factory. There are no rips or tears but it is showing some age. The rear window is in pretty good shape. There is cloth on the inside of the soft-top that protects it from the frame/hardware and it is frayed and should to be replaced from a cosmetic point of view. The appropriate material is included with the car. I have not found a local shop that can do the work. There is a nice interior color-matched boot that covers the top when it is down. Please keep in mind that this is a 55 year old car. It is has been driven, serviced and loved but like any old car it is not without a few issues. I mentioned the bubbling in the paint in the rocker panels. It seems to be confined there and the rest of the car looks solid. The temperature gauge is not working. I have been told my mechanic that it needs to be removed to be repaired or replaced. The Temperature/Pressure warning lamp on the dash is working. I discovered recently that although the speedometer works, the odometer has stopped working. The windshield appears to be original based on its markings but has some pitting from use. The odometer currently shows 75,669 miles. I’m not sure if that’s 75K or 175K but based on the overall condition of the car I don’t believe it has rolled over 100,000 miles yet. This is a great Corvair to be driven, shared and enjoyed. It has a clear Washington title but the car is located in Palm Springs, California where I have been spending winters. I have done my best to represent it accurately. The winner of the auction is purchasing it as-is - no warranty is offered. The buyer is responsible for local pick-up and/or transport of the vehicle.
