Vehicle Detail
The good: Complete, straight (NEVER wrecked or painted), rust free, running, drivable 1st GEN SHO. Needs some work but can be driven anywhere. The clutch (stock replacement with about 70,00 miles) and transmission are excellent as are the steering and brakes. The original tattered cloth/leather power seats have been swapped out for GEN 2 cloth manual seats that match the original interior quite well. The 16" white factory slicer wheel were added and the 15" basket weaves were pitched. The timing belt is brand new. The power locks, windows, mirrors and things all work fine.No sunroof (more headroom). No ABS or air bags - simpler times. Full Ford factory SHO shop manuals and original window sticker included. The "not so good": To be a smog legal daily driver this SHO will need to have stock camshafts installed. I modified them for better fuel economy and the cold start performance suffers. Also, one of the two catalytic converters is shot. As such the car will NOT likely pass a CA smog test. If you aren't willing to deal with this issue this is not the car for you. The A/C has a new clutch but needs to be re-charged. The headliner has been ruined around the edges by the sun. There are probably other little things that 29 year old Fords suffer from that I'm not remembering. The battery is shot. The one out of my RV that I've used to get it running is not included. Backstory: I'm the second, mature, owner since 1997. I bought this car at about 49,000 miles. It was our primary car for several years until we wanted something larger and more comfortable and it became our second car. A few years ago it became my "hobby" car and I'm no longer interested (and "left" it for a 2005 XJ8L...). It is not currently registered. I have a one day trip permit to get the car to its new owner. I'm out of storage space and this SHO needs to go! I can deliver up to 300 miles - fee will depend on the location and timing. I travel to Socal, Sacramento, and Las Vegas often. I can coordinate with your transport company, at your cost, if you'd like. My wife and I will be flying out of Las Vegas on May 11th and can drive it there for $100. I'll work with you! If you've read this far and still have questions please feel free to message me. If you'd like to end the auction early message me with your offer and I'll consider adding a "Buy It Now" price. Thanks and Happy Bidding!!! On Apr-16-18 at 19:52:19 PDT, seller added the following information: UPDATE MONDAY 4/16/18: A problem has occurred with the registration for my SHO. This is due to a misunderstanding with California DMV regarding the status of this vehicle's registration. While attempting to get a "one day moving" permit today (which was denied - at ANY price) it was brought to my attention that over $600 in fees and penalties are due. My intent in getting the permit was to be able to legally drive the car at highway speeds to check its roadworthiness for several bidders who have expressed an interest in flying in and driving the SHO home over 1000 miles unescorted. There is not enough time before this auction ends to resolve a my dispute with DMV. I do NOT want the new owner to have any problems registering the car, in whatever state they my live. I sincerely regret any inconvenience or disappointment that this may cause anyone and ask for forgiveness. UPDATE TUESDAY 5/1/18: $429 later the DMV issue is resolved. The car is not registered but can be legally driven with the undated One Day Trip Permit that I now have in hand. Note that I have a CLEAR California title - always have. I just got back from a 50 mile drive at speeds just a "bit" over 75 mph that included climbing a 8 mile long 6% grade (4000' elevation gain) and the SHO ran and drove well. I am reasonably confident that it can be driven long distances without too much drama (but risk is what makes real adventure...some anyway)On May-07-18 at 19:06:51 PDT, seller added the following information: UPDATE 5/7/18:Drove the SHO 70 miles last Saturday including a climb from 4000' to 8500' (Aspendell) - no problems. Drove 35 miles Sunday - again, no problems. Also, new NGK Laser Platinum spark plugs and the Gates timing belt have less than 200 miles on them as does the engine oil change. The fuel pump was replaced about 20,000 miles ago - Carter High Output. Have questions? Message me and I'll answer asap. Thanks!
