Vehicle Detail
I have for sale a 1999 S10 Extended Cab with the Xtreme Package. It has a V8 engine swap with a 5.3L LS engine from a 2003 full size pickup. The transmission came from a 1999 1500 Silverado with 112K miles on it. The pickup has about 10K miles of operating with a V8 combination in it. The current combination is about a month old and I only have a few hundred miles on it, but it previously had an LS1 with a 4L60E from a 99 Camaro. I changed to this combination to improve drivability and replace the transmission that was hurt (lost 2nd gear and required a rebuild). About the Build: 1999 S10 Xtreme Extended Cab with the ZQ8 package. I used the long tube headers and engine and transmission mounts from BRP Hotrods to swap the V8 into the pickup. I used the oil pan from a 4th gen Camaro to keep everything contained within the frame and cross member. I used high flow cats and M80 Pypes with 3” dual exhaust to complete the exhaust. The pickup was speed density tuned to eliminate the MAF sensor. I kept the AC for long road trips and the really hot days. Changed to Hydroboost to eliminate the vacuum booster and create clearance around the engine. To create clearance for the dual exhaust changed to a fuel cell in the box of the pickup with a 255 LPH external fuel pump and external fuel pressure regulator. I ran -8 (1/2”) fuel hose and tube the entire length of the vehicle for pressure and return (it is really designed for a much higher horsepower engine and that was intentional to prevent fuel upgrades as the engine was upgraded. Current performance did the engine wiring harness and provided the ability for the engine to be integrated into the vehicle. The stock gauges work. I changed the differential from an open to a Torsen style out of a LS Camaro. I upgraded the rear brakes with LS1 rear brakes out of a Camaro. The front brakes are aftermarket C5 brakes which required the larger wheels. The Wheels are Boss Motorsports 338’s 18X9.5. Tires are BF Goodrich Sport Comp 2’s 275/40ZR18 on all 4 corners. About the engine: Don’t know much about it, but I replaced the oil pump and the timing chain while it was out. Everything else looked good and I just cleaned it up before putting it into the vehicle. The intake is an LS1. Otherwise it is stock. Final thoughts I’ve done most of the work on the vehicle myself and know everything that has gone into it. I’m only selling because the pickup doesn’t get driven as much as I think it should. I want it to go to someone who will drive it. Please let me know if you have any questions about the vehicle and I’d be happy to answer them. I prefer texts, but you can also call me @ 605-359-1678.
