Lets start with the high-tech carbon-fiber fenders, wheelhouses and floor panels that wrap around the same basic chassis as the previous year, but the aluminum frame and magnesium engine cradle have taken this Corvette to exotic-car levels of advanced vehicle design shaving 50 pounds off the base model's curb weight, a 105-horsepower increase — and a 50-pound weight loss. So, for the record. That 7.0 Liter ( 427 cu.in ) 505 H.P and 470 ft.lbs torque. Expect riveting performance. How about sub 4 second 0-60 times and the quarter mile will come up in just shy of 12 seconds at full throttle! ( as per Car and Driver ) And, that's just for a start. Sounds Bad to the bone! So, who's up for Van Halen at 100 mph? The engine is just packed with race technology, from its dry-sump oil lubrication system to its titanium connecting rods and intake valves. It revs to 7,000 rpm with the enthusiasm (and near smoothness) of a Honda engine, yet it pulls harder than the Viper coupe's V10. SIMPLY AWESOME. And, it delivers an average of 20 mpg. Not bad for a bat out of hell, huh? So, now you have to stop this beast and the brakes are as capable as the marvelous engine under the hood. Balancing an 11-to-1 compression ratio and cold-air induction are 14-inch cross-drilled front rotors with six-piston calipers for stopping power (the rear brakes use 13.4-inch rotors and four-piston calipers).
