The Crown Victoria has been the staple of police agencies and taxi fleets for the past two decades. Fleets love these cars because of their incredible reliability, unsurpassed durability, mechanical simplicity, and large interior dimensions. Furthermore, the Police Interceptor package has many standard upgrades over the retail model Crown Victoria, including: -Unrestricted freer flowing dual exhaust exhaust compared to the retail models single exhaust. -Heavy duty shocks, springs, struts, and other heavy duty suspension parts which translates into tighter steering and better durability. -ECU is tuned for quick acceleration, aggressive shifts, and has a raised/removed top speed limiter for high speed applications. -Severe-duty engine/radiator hoses -Shorter rear gearing for quick off the line acceleration (3:55 locking/limited slip rear end, axle code “DK”). -Speed rated Goodyear Eagle RSA tires and heavy duty steel wheels. -Larger heavy duty 4 wheel antilock disk brakes. -Upgraded heavy duty driveshaft certified for high speed operation. -Heavy duty rubberized flooring instead of interior carpeting. This particular Crown Victoria has just 96,356 miles on it. For those of you who know about these cars, you know that they can run forever & are virtually indestructible. This car was used as a detective’s car in Upstate NY which means there are no holes in the roof from a lightbar. This car drives really well and rides like a couch on wheels. It has a nice floaty ride, akin to a Lincoln Town Car. The 4 wheel ABS disk brakes stop this car really well. This car has blazing heat and working AC (compressor kicks on), however the AC may need to be recharged ($60 at a mechanics shop or you can go to any auto parts store and buy one of those refill cans and do it yourself). It has cloth bucket seats up front (drivers is powered) and a vinyl rear bench seat which is surprisingly comfortable. 4 preset AM/FM radio w/4 speakers is present and working. The interior is extremely spacious and you can raise a family in there. I put a brand new 675 CCA battery in just three weeks ago along with a brand new air filter. It cranks right over without hesistation and purrs nicely. Not a sound out of place under this hood! The transmission shifts nicely as well. Floor pans are in good condition with minimal rust. All four Goodyear Eagle RSA tires have excellent tread. A full size spare is also included. Being nearly 18 years old, this vehicle however does have a couple of minor flaws, including: The rear window defroster does not work. The steering wheel is a little rough, however you can just throw a cover over itABS light comes on sometimes and goes away at others. •The emergency brake does not work. There is slight surface rust on both front fenders. This can be taken care of very easily and cheaply and is not a big deal. The rear doors/windows are inoperable from the inside handles. This was done on purpose to prevent arrestees from escaping. This can be fixed very easily with a simple pin. The keys included do not lock the doors however, they do start the car. Overall, this is a great, solid, reliable, and well maintained car. This could make for a great movie car, personal car, first car, or backup car. I have no doubt in my mind that it’ll be on the road for years to come so please give ol’ glory a good home. From 1996-2001, these cars came with a plastic intake manifold where the plastic antifreeze crossover in the front would eventually crack and leak antifreeze. With this new intake manifold, you probably won't have to worry about that problem ever occurring.
