Vehicle Detail
1966 Ford F100. 352 v8 and 3-speed manual on the floor. Truck originally had the column shift but was converted prior to my ownership. This truck has been driven very little (just over 500-miles) since I've owned it. I'll take it out every couple weekends to the hardware store or here and there. It's been super reliable and has never broken down or left me stranded. Strong battery cranks it over even on cold mornings. I purchased approximately 4 years ago and truck was primer brown. I painted with Sherwin Williams automotive single stage which has since chipped and scraped in a few places. I'm not a professional painter but it came out ok for a driver. Due to the chips and scrapes, my idea; (if I didn't sell) was to embrace and enhance the natural wear and go with the "patina" look and clear coat to protect from rusting. Of course, I'm sure you'll have your own, way cooler idea. No serious issues with this truck that I'm aware of. Body is straight for the most part but not perfect. As mentioned, truck was in primer when I purchased and straight enough to paint without my doing any body work. There is some indication that the lower rear quarters likely had some bondo as there is a bit of cracking that appeared after I painted.Truck shifts well and motor runs pretty smoothly after warming. Idles like a champ. Of course, this is a 50 year old truck and mostly original and it is NOT a show truck...more of a driver. Reluctantly looking to sell due to no place to store it due to other cars, bikes, boats, etc.. The good: 352ci v8 runs goodBody pretty straight for a driverNo rust except a flat section in the bed near the cab. Since it's flat metal, this can be fixed super easily. Overall, bed is very solid. See pics.Newer Coker wide whitewalls on red rally's with baby moons. Less than 1000 miles on them.Trim is pretty straightBrakes (original drum) all serviced with new wheel seals.Original floor mat in pretty good shape.Super comfy seat with no rips/tears.All lights, turn signals, hazards work! This is rare...Gas gauge works! also rare...Speedometer works....bounces a bit but works.Wipers work!Cigarette LIghter works!Manual transmission works fine and shifts well.Has trailer hitch with working electrical (4-flat) connector.Current registration and insured in my name in Georgia.Gets lots of looks, comments, thumbs-up and photo requests wherever you go. The Bad:Paint chipping here and there.Large crack in windshield1 window crank and 1 door lever need work to make the handles stay on.Driver side exterior mirror keeps drooping.leaky valve covers. simple fix...I tried to install a new headliner but did a poor job. It's in but not adjusted properly. I sort-of gave up as I was trying to do it solo. Definitely need another pair of hands.Clutch sort of chatters when starting; particularly on a hill... I think partially due to the 3-speed as 1st gear is pretty tall.Has after market temp and oil pressure guages which work and replace the lack of working originals. All this said, this is overall a solid old truck with a lot of cool-factor.
