[Update]: Multiple hoses were replaced and the coolant leak is now completely fixed. 2002 MK4 Silver Volkswagen Golf GTI 337 Special Edition (6 speed manual). 142k milesThis car is my daily driver (a few miles back and forth every day) and has always been driven gently. I have moved away to school and I no longer have a need for this car, sadly. It has been thoroughly maintained and cared for. No maintenance has been neglected its condition reflects that.I am the second owner of the car and I purchased it about a year ago. The first owner took extremely good care of the car (it was the family car) and any issue was quickly addressed at Herman Cook VW in Encinitas. Maintenance under my ownership has been taken care of at Larry's BMW paradise. I am only mentioning major maintenance in this ad, but I have service records documenting the frequent maintenance the car has had. This car runs absolutely fantastic. I have never had a problem with the engine. It cranks up quickly, and it idles very smoothly as well. The transmission shifts smoothly through all gears. The car is an absolute blast to drive and handles great in corners. It sounds fantastic and is not overly loud/The car has a clean title (pink slip on hand). Passed with ease last time it was smogged.Pros:-Alzor 18" matte black wheels with Falken Tires (lots of tread left)-R32 Style front bumper-AST Performance cold air intake (CARB legal)-Forge 07 splitter/diverter valve (including original valve as well which must be put back on for smog)-Custom resonator back exhaust w/ OEM tip (sounds sporty, no drone, and not overly loud)-Synthetic oil changed regularly-New valve cover gasket (113k)-New control arms (113k)-Timing belt, tensioners, water pump, thermostat (100k)-New alternator (111k)-New front axle (140k)-MAF just cleaned-Short ECS Tuning antenna-Paint is very good for the cars age, but it does have some imperfections and scratches if you look closely (most noticeable on rear bumper). The car was washed and detailed weekly. -Professionally installed Avery carbon fiber wrap on roof, mirrors, and spoiler. Paint is good underneath. There are a few signs of wear/discoloration on the wrap-Pioneer FH-X730BS Bluetooth stereo w/ microphone-2 x Kicker 10" subs in the trunk with Kicker amp. The subwoofers pack quite the punch and can be a bit much for some people, but they can be easily removed to conserve trunk space. (Can be removed prior to purchase if requsted)-15% tint in rear and 35% in front-Headlights have been restored so they are clear-Black front grille-New rear VW badges with rabbit logo-Clear side markers-AC was recently refreshed and blows cold-New AC knobs -Wiper blades just replaced-I will include the ECS tuning car cover, a hood skirt, a front grille with badge delete, a full service manual, as well as all of the VW accessories I haveCons:-The paint is generally very good, but if you know what you are looking for, there are some imperfections: paint around trunk handle was touched up and was not faded in well, some scratches on rear bumper, there are little imperfections that have been touched up on front part of hood, one chip that has been touched up on front bumper. I detail the car weekly and it is covered when not in use.-There are some slight discolorations on the wrap, but only visible up close-Fitment of the front bumper is not perfect on the right side but not very noticeable-A bit of headliner fabric is sagging-Driver's side door panel fabric is coming loose. Passenger side is perfect.-A lot of the interior plastic trim is showing wear, but that is expected.-One small stain on passenger side seat-One of the clips on the front grille is broken so grille does not sit perfectly (very hard to notice, but I am particular)-Rip in the driver's side floor mat from wear-Right strut makes squeaking sound occasionally going over bumps at slow speeds- Last time I had an oil change, I was told the motor mounts were a bit worn, but I took the car to my mechanic and was toldit will be a while before they need to be replaced-Small rust spot on inside of trunk (not visible unless you look for it)-Small curb rash spot on two of the wheelsThe 337 edition is a limited edition model and only 1,500 exist in the U.S. The 337 has the follow changes over a standard GTI:- Greatly improved sport suspension 1" lower overall ride height- Votex body kit with front valance, side skirts, rear hatch wing and rear valance with 3" chromed exhaust tip- 315mm (12.4") diameter vented front and 256mm (10") rear vented brakes with red powder coated calipers- All-new six-speed MQ350 transmission- Recaro front seats in special "LeMans" red and black cloth with custom GTI embroidery- Brushed aluminum interior trim accents- Red stitching on steering wheel, shift boot, handbrake knob and seats- Special golf ball shift knob- Aluminum pedals with rubber inserts- Stainless steel exhaust with mild sound tuning- Red trimmed floor mats- Special exterior retro GTI badging- Monsoon sound system (U.S. only)- and moreI have a folder of all of the history and receipts I can find as well. Thanks!
