Vehicle Detail
This is the best motorcycle I've ever owned. Babied throughout its time on this earth and lovingly cared for – chronicled to exhaustive effect, as you'll see – this is the single best bike for both commuting (how I used it) and long road trips (how its previous owner used it). Look at how pretty and lean this thing is without the bags. And yet, with the bags, you can go for days. Never dropped, never scratched, never sipped anything but premium gas, never spent a night outside. It rides and handles like new – clutch is perfect and the gears shift with that satisfying “click” for which BMWs are rightfully famous. Consider: The heated grips with two settings. The convenience outlets will handle your GPS or iphone or heated clothes – or ALL at the same time. This bike has OEM BMW side bags with the ingenious “double handle” locking system that allows for easy detachment (so you can bring em into work or your home) or easy opening while leaving attached. They are keyed to the ignition key. The locking, same-keyed hardshell side cases are stylish and sleek. And on days when you have a lot to pack, add the OEM BMW top case, which is gigantic. The fairing has built in containers for your small stuff – wallet and cel. And unlike the 1200clc (which I also love) the mirrors on this fairing are actually placed so you can see the road, rather than staring at your knuckles. The accelerator grip has a twist-cap that allows you to clamp it in 5th gear, which is a sort of poor man's cruise control. It's a stupid feature and I don't even like using real cruise control on a motorcycle, but it's there if you want it. There are 22,000 miles on this puppy, but I want to draw your attention to something. Anyone considering this bike has doubtlessly owned a few in his day. You know that the mileage doesn't really tell the story – a cared-for BMW with 100,000 miles will outperform a crappy bike that's been neglected for 10,000 miles. Take a look at the photo of the documents and brochures. On the right of that photo, you'll see the detailed log that the previous owner kept, listing every single ride. The last entry reads: "I tightened bolts to 78 ft lbs and replaced brake calipers and torque bolts to 18 ft lbs." That's someone who rides with love, not just to get from point A to point B. I'm selling this because my new house has a smaller garage and I need the room. I will include a bunch of fun extras. • Super comfy Corbin seat that some riders might prefer• Long foot peg things that are great for long rides (but annoying when you're shifting a ton)• Two fully functional keys and two "valet" keys• Brand new windscreen extender – I'm about 6'2" and I like it quiet but this thing comes off if you're shorter or just prefer the wind in your face• Brand new BMW trickle charger with the BMW “skinny cigarette lighter” attachment, so this can be plugged/unplugged instantly. • You can have a quart of BMW oil, too. Note that the left mirror has some minor cracks. Never dropped, which is obvious from the condition but someone must have scraped by at some point. Not me. I set no reserve price. I believe in the efficiency of free markets and rely on eBay and its educated buyers to deliver the amount my bike is "supposed" to fetch. But please don't bid if you're not serious about paying. I will not end the auction early. One last caveat. I will not ship this motorcycle. If you win, you gotta come to Northern New Jersey and drive it or haul it away. So don't bid if you're not willing/able to do so. A $500 down payment is required within 48 hours of auction end. The remainder is due within a week of auction close, and I'll accept PayPal, certified check, or cash. Have a blessed holiday, everyone, and hold your loved ones close during this special time of year.
