Vehicle Detail

1965 THUNDERBIRD Convertible Red & Black. I bought it on 6/22/2015 and drove for few days and parked it where it sits with rest of my classic car collection in Thousand Oaks, California. It drives real good without any problems. Convertible top has a small tear on top approx. 1.5 inch long and 1.00 inch wide that I have taped it to make sure no water could get in. I was gonna buy a vinyl patch to fix it because the top is in good condition and doesn't require changing as I used it just the way it is and it's been sitting and have gone through pretty bad rains without any leak from the ripped part as it has a regular white masking tape that needs to be replaced with a vinyl patch white tape. This patch cannot be seen as it is on the top and does not show from the side, back or the front. I am 8'9 but it may show to someone who is taller perhaps! I was going to restore it to 100 point but it is respectable to be driven daily as it is. It may need a starter that sometime slips. I may change it before the sale as I have already bought the starter but my Mercedes mechanic who moonlights on the weekends, is always busy working on my other cars. If he can replace it before the sale, it will come already replace, if not, you'll have the new/rebuilt one that will go with the car. There's a small hole on the driver's side of the front bumper which is pretty strange because I can't figure it out how in the world a hole could get on that portion of the chrome. I've shown it in the picture. If you need a better picture let me know and I'll try my best to get it done asap. Buyers/bidders are highly encouraged to have the car inspected by a local Ford dealer or indy Ford service shops for full inspection before the bidding. It would cost roughly around $95 to $150 to have it inspected at your cost just to have a piece of mind. Car needs a real good wash and vacuum cleaning to drive. My wife won't sit in a car with dirty carpet as it's shown in the pictures. Car is being sold on AS IS and WHERE IS basis without any implied, expressed or in any forms of assurances or expressions of guarantees whatsoever. Some cars that are trucked across the states do get scratched and face other experience and other issues therefore, I will not be responsible except what is stated and shown herein. I am willing to have the car taken to your selected local Ford shop for full inspection at your expense locally for you to make sure that the car is what is described here. I am not a mechanic neither an expert and I have described the car to the best of my abilities. Therefore, please ask any questions that you might have that I will try my best to answer. If you need any pictures of any specific parts or any other areas of the car, please don't hesitate to ask. I am downsizing my classic car collection and this and other cars must go. It is a NO-RESERVE auction and the high bidder takes the car regardless what is the prevailing going prices of this car is. Being a car collector, I know what this car is worth in the condition as it sits. But I am not expecting to get even what I've paid for it. A deposit of $500 will be required within 24 hours after the end of the auction. Preferably $500 deposit should be paid through PayPal. But if you don't have a paypal account, you can pay via bank to bank wire transfer. If you decide to pay the remaining balance via PayPal you can do that provided you also pay the PayPal fee for this transaction. If not, we can agree to a bank to bank wire transfer. Remaining balance after paying the $500 deposit, must be paid within 3 days after the auction. For the buyer of this car outside the State of California, one of my worker here at the ranch will be more than happy to bring the car to the loading truck and assist anyway he could safely and legal do. Car can be driven anywhere as far I know. Since I have only driven the car between Los Angeles and Las Vegas once so I can't say how long of a trip it can make. Like any old or new car, it is always advisable for a long road trip to have the car checked for its safety and performance. It may need full service such as oils and filters changed, inspect the brakes and other components before a long road trip. I encourage prospective buyers to ask any questions for clarity purposes before the bidding. Good luck with your biddings. On Dec-05-17 at 10:57:38 PST, seller added the following information: My Gardner was going through my storage and found the two side skirts that go on the rear wheels. I remember ordering the brand new front bumper due to the hole that I show in one of the picture above. This brand new front bumper will go with the car along with side skirts. I forgot to mention that the car was repainted before I bought it. On the passenger side of the door, I saw the plastic that goes around the hole is missing. This piece goes under the handle as shown in the picture. Car looked extremely shiny due to washing of the leaves as it's been sitting under the weeping willow tree and had lots of leaves all around it and on the top as well. However, like any other cars, a wet car shines lot more than the real shine. So please take that in consideration as I don't like to misrepresent the condition of the paint. It looks pretty good once washed and polished and has a real shine to it once cleaned but the shine is not near what it looks when wet! This is why I have suggested to have the car inspected locally for a full report, if you like. I'm selling this car to get rid of it and other cars and not because I need the money. It is not a distress sale and I can afford to keep it for next 50 years but its a choice between the cars and the wife!!!! On Dec-07-17 at 06:09:36 PST, seller added the following information: Some bidders asked me a question about checking the vents in the dashboard that are supposed to be for air conditioning of the car. I did check but did not find such vents. I am assuming that means, that this Thunderbird did not come with the factory air conditioning. Therefore, I would suggest that the bidders must understand that the car does not come with an AC. I will check again to find out if it does or not. If it has the AC, I will revise the descriptions about the AC issue. But assume that it does not have an AC!On Dec-07-17 at 11:30:31 PST, seller added the following information: Some bidders have asked me to describe the overall condition of this car in general, which I have already done it in the above descriptions of the car. However, those who are expecting this car to be a showroom condition Pebble Beach show car, it certainly is not. It is a normal driveable car without any issues as far as I know. This is one of the reason that I have recommended to the prospective buyers/bidders to have their own independent local Ford shop examine the car and tell you the details about it. This way there are no ifs and buts and blames to go on. If I was expecting to sell it at a going price I would have started this auction with a Reserve Price Auction but because I want to get rid of this car and willing to sell it at a very low price that it may bring from a No-Reserve auction, I am selling it on AS IS and WHERE IS basis. So please bid with an assumption that you are buying this car as described and as seen by its pictures and at your own risk. I m not trying to describe the car to make a sale. If it does not sell, at least I have a genuine reason to tell my wife that I tried but no one wants to buy it. This way it will become part of dozens of other cars sitting in an open parking lot of my factory building. On Dec-07-17 at 17:00:19 PST, seller added the following information: Two bidders have asked about the 3rd. last picture of the passenger side of the door where the reflection from the Bentley next to Tbird appears on the Tbird's passenger side of the door and looks like discoloration or perhaps primer. It is the reflection of the sun on the Bentley reflecting on the door of the Tbird. Nothing is wrong with the Tbird's door. It is exactly the same paint quality as rest of the car. Feel free to ask any question please. Also please make a note that I have described the car to the best of my abilities. I know more about German and English car as a collector and not much about American classic cars. If there's anything that I've overlooked, it is totally unintentional. For any reasons or doubts if you don't feel comfortable about this car, please refrain from bidding. I welcome you or anyone from your side to come and inspect the car or have a local Ford shop inspect it for you to make certain that this is the car that you want based on its looks and descriptions. I believe, a car history from CarFax and other sources can be obtained to find out if this car was ever in an accident. I bought the car from an elderly gentleman from upstate New York who definitely was a man of honor. He informed me that this car was never in any accident. This is all the info I have on this car. Please do your own nosing around to make sure that you wanna bid on this car after all options and investigative work you have undertaken. Thank you.
