Vehicle Detail
Up for auction is my 1958 Triumph Thunderbird 6T 650cc twin motorcycle, it would make a fantastic pre-unit winter/summer project for the right person. The bike is a matching number bike. I bought this bike from a friend of mine. He was in the midst of restoring the bike. The bike’s engine and gearbox was restored during my friend’s ownership of the bike. I have verified that there are new pistons (looking through the spark plug hole) and new valves as well (looking through the exhaust ports). The engine and gearbox turn freely. Could easily start with: primary chain, coils and electrics. Frame is painted black. The current fenders, stays and color of the bike are wrong, there are some pitting appearing on the rims. The correct oil tank and toolbox are on the bike. Frame number: 018271Engine number: 6T 018271 The bike had the incorrect tank and nacelle top when I acquired the bike. I have sourced an original tank and nacelle top for the bike. Originally the 1958 Triumph Thunderbird would have had a very unique color scheme (domestic market) only for a 1958 Thunderbird – Gold color. I have attached a picture of a finished bike in this color as the last picture for reference. These bikes are being more and more sought after. Above average restored bikes are demanding prices around 12-14k USD. The 58 Thunderbird is very close and shares many similarities as the 1959 Bonnie. As you can see this bike requires finishing, parts can be bought from Ace Classics, Feked and various other suppliers in Northern America and Europe. What I feel that the bike requires:“Correct” front and rear fendersExhaust systemWiring harness and electrics (horn, switches, coils etc.)New rims, spokes and tiresSeatHeadlamp, tail lamp Rubbers, cables, levers and accessoriesSpeedometer and ammeter Other additional hardware I reckon these parts will cost approximately $2700 to $3300 USD new, depending on where you source them from, used parts will possibly be available for a cheaper price. I have too many projects and have come to realization that I have enough bikes to keep me busy for the next 5 years (as a hobby). Thus, this bike should go to someone that has the passion to restore this bike. I am very sad to see this bike go as it is a great start for a fantastic project and a numbers matching bike. I am selling 7 more projects to clean the shed before the winter. I have a valid Ontario, Canada ownership under my name. I also have a parts manual for this bike that will go to the new owner. Anything else that I find lying around my shed, I will include free of charge. Willing to ship worldwide and help in shipping (i.e working with your shipper/coordination), buyer will pay for shipping. I am willing to take the bike apart and crate it for an extra cost as well. The bike is located in Toronto, Ontario, Canada which is pretty close to the US border. I am willing to drive/meet the correct buyer in and/or around my area. The bike is being sold on an as-is-basis, no returns, exchanges or warranties are implied with this sale. Please study the pictures carefully. The bike is also for sale locally and I have to right to end the auction at any given time. If you have any further questions or concerns please do not hesitate to contact me at (416)-858-8034 and/or ajay.jayalath@gmail.com. Thank you and happy bidding. On Nov-18-17 at 05:45:35 PST, seller added the following information: Just an update to the listing. The bike is a two owner bike. I just got a verification that the frame, engine and gearbox are all numbers matching bike. The bike was dispatched to Canada on June 5, 1958 ex-works fitted with solo gearing finished in Gold to order number 2691A. This is one of 1936 Thunderbird machines build for 1958.
