Vehicle Detail
Up for grabs is my 1964 Volkswagen Beetle. I have owned this car for almost 5 years now. The car is numbers matching body and pan with a clear title. History: I am at least the third owner of the car, it was originally Panama Beige before being painted white. The car was restored in the early 90's and then parked under a pine tree a few years later where it sat for over a decade. The pine straw that accumulated in the rain gutters and door seams caused surface rust but the car is still solid aside from a few small areas that need to be addressed at some point. Despite how it may seem in photographs the paint is pretty rough. BODY: Any rust that was worse than surface rust was cleaned to bare metal and treated with rust preventing primer. Nothing that was treated in this manner has gotten any worse in the 4.5 years i have owned the car. As can be seen in the photographs the drivers side A pillar has a quarter size hole in the center, the passenger side rocker has a few small holes near the B pillar, the lower corner of the dash on the passenger side has a small hole from a leaky windshield, the floor pan under the battery has a 3-4" hole, and the rear bumper supports will need to be replaced at some point. Other than the areas mentioned the body is rock solid and is completely safe to drive as is (I have for almost 4 years). The front pan 1/4's were rusted due to the vent windows leaking in to the floor. I replaced both pans with OG VW front floor sections from the front seats forward. INTERIOR: The seats and door panels are in pretty good shape with no rips/tears (a few seams are starting to come apart in places), the carpet is decent, and the rubber floor/tunnel mat is a new Wolfsburg West reproduction. The headliner is solid but stained. It has the stock pop-out rear quarter windows with Randar extended latches. CHASSIS: I replaced the entire brake system 2.5 years ago (all soft and hard lines, pads, master cylinder, wheel cylinders, etc) and they still function as they should. The front suspension was replaced with a 5" narrowed adjustable beam from AutoWerks Suspension, drop spindles, new king/Link Pins, and new tie rods (factory beam comes with the car). The rear has notched and extended spring plates from Womacks, turned two splines. The car is riding on new 5" Empi Sprintstars with brand new Kumho Stylus tires (185/65/15 on the rear, and 155/60/15 up front). TRANSMISSION: Low mileage (less than 10,000) pro street transmission, and a vintage Hurst shifter. ENGINE: The engine is an extremely low mile(less than 200) 1641cc dual port. Built from an AE case, with mostly stock specs, with a very mild cam, and Dual Weber 34 ict's. The car has an electronic fuel pump, and electronic ignition. *** On a recent drive the engine briefly lost oil pressure, and now sounds like it has a spun crank bearing (purely speculation but it sounds pretty rough). It will still crank right up but the noises it is making can't be good. It may be a simple fix but I don't have the time to disassemble the engine and fix it. EXTRAS: Car will come with a complete Wiring Works wiring harness, the factory front beam, new set of heater boxes, an early all metal roof rack, and any other parts that I have that you may want. ***Please make sure you have read the full ad, and viewed all pictures**** Only hit the buy it now, or make an offer button if you are actually interested in purchasing the car. The car is located in Greenville North Carolina 27858. Payment must be finalized within 7 days. The car will need to be towed as I would not trust it to drive it with the current engine issues. The car can be stored until you can pick it up, or arrange pick up via the shipper of your choice. Please feel free to contact me with any questions you may have and will respond quickly. If you are within reasonable driving distance you are more than welcomed to come see the car in person.
