Vehicle Detail

Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE You are bidding on a sumptuous piece of Italian engineering. This Vespa has barely been used – I bought it brand new for $7404 in 2015 from Cross Country Vespa in Metuchen and have only found the time to put 672 miles on it. It has been garaged every day of its brief two years on earth and never sipped anything but premium unleaded. Beautiful gray/blue color. In the age of Google, there’s not much I can really say about this fine example of kinetic gorgeousness that cannot be learned from reading the excellent reviews this model has always earned. You will learn that the 278 cc engine will get about 76 mpg and easily handle 80 mph. It’s 76 inches long, just under 30 inches wide and you’ll sit 31 inches off the ground. If you’ve ever owned an old-school hand-shifted Vespa, you’ll appreciate the 2.5 gallon tank – a major improvement. The LED dash tells you time/mileage/fuel. But I will say that, having owned a dozen classic Vespas in the past, including the “fast” ones like the Rally 200 and a couple different P200s, that I was shocked by how quick and powerful this guy is. After I had kids, I made a commitment that I would no longer ride any bike that didn’t have ABS. It’s a safety game-changer, in my view, and you can drive a little more confidently knowing you’re not going to seize up. Note: This bike has never crashed, but I did drop it on my driveway when it was parked. There is a dent on the left engine cover and I’ve tried to be as upfront with that as possible in the photos. Otherwise, it is cosmetically perfect and mechanically flawless. I have all the original documentation and manuals, including a spare key, and that’s not nothing now that Piaggio uses chipped keys. The way eBay works is that it costs the seller (me, in this case) money to post an ad. And it costs the seller extra to post lots of photographs. That's an expense I'm happy to pay. The better informed the bidder, the more he'll hopefully bid, and the less likely he is to claim not to have known about some perceived flaw. I set no reserve price. I believe in the efficiency of free markets and rely on eBay and its educated buyers to deliver the amount my item is "supposed" to fetch. But please don't bid if you're not serious about paying. I reserve the right to remove dubious-looking bidders, and those with no feedback should contact me BEFORE bidding. I will not end the auction early. One last caveat. I will not ship this scooter. If you win, you gotta come to Northern New Jersey and drive it or haul it away. So don't bid if you're not willing/able to do so. A $500 down payment is required within 48 hours of auction end. The remainder is due within a week of auction close, and I'll accept PayPal, certified check, or cash.
