Vehicle Detail

Selling a family heirloom. It is a 1975 Suzuki GT550 that was built at the tail end of 1974 for the 1975 year. I am the third owner of this bike, my father was the second and passed it down to me. He bought it from our family doctor in 1998 who had a collection of vehicles including this one, all stored in a heated and air conditioned storage garage. The bike had 1,900 miles on it when my father bought it and has never had any repairs or problems running since it has been in our family. It is all original, and has never had any major repairs. I put new tired on it, but it is never ridden and I've lost interest in keeping it around. I mostly keep the battery charged and take it around the block about twice a year. It has new spark plugs in it and the fuel tank has been drained for storage purposes. It has sat covered in my garage the last 8 years. There are no tears in the seat, no scratches or damage to the tank, and the automixing for 2-stroke oil works well. The only items to speak of are it needs new carburetor linkage boots (about 70 dollars on Ebay, new old stock), and possibly needs the carbs cleaned as well, due to the carb linkage boots just "melting" away like they are known to do over time. It also likely needs a new battery, about 65 bucks. This bike has a kick start as well as an electric start. It is going to make someone an incredible buy with super low original miles. Relisted due to multiple non-paying bidders, so don't wait, make me an offer on this best offer auction and be the new owner of an incredible machine. This bike was built in 1974 in December, for the 1975 model year. I received the following message from a Suzuki collector. "What a nice bike, and in such great condition! I saw your ad today as I was browsing on eBay. I currently own two GT550s and I just wanted to suggest to you that I believe your bike is a 1975 model. The tank and side covers are clearly from the 1975 model year. True, these items would be easy to swap out from another bike or repaint. But the real telltale is that the fork sliders have the rubber wipers at the top. The 1974 model has a chromed ring there instead. 1974 is the only year that had that feature. 1973 and before had full rubber fork gators. 1975 and beyond has only the rubber wiper ring. The date on the VIN tag may list 1974, but this is the manufacture date, not the model year. Many 1975's were built at the end of 1974. The black 1975 model GT550 may be the most sought after model and color of this bike. Good luck with your auction! Jonathan" Buyer responsible for making shipping arrangements, I'll be glad to help any way I can. It isn't too bad to have one of these shipped, i.e. about 500 to 650 bucks from South Texas to Georgia last time I checked. There are different websites that help you find a shipper, for example the "Uship" website.
