Vehicle Detail
1979 HONDA CBX 1000 Project Bike. Frame #CB1-2020136, Engine #CB1E-2021466. The previous owner died, and I bought it from his son. The tank and side covers were stolen, the tail section, fender and seat were sold. I cleaned the carbs and tie wrapped on the Suzuki tank and seat, and added motocross number plates for the heck of it to see how it runs, and it actually runs great! I do have the stock airbox but I ripped an intake boot. The front brakes work merely ok and the rear brake cylinder shaft is frozen so I removed the brake pads to get it to roll and run it. It shifts like it should. There is a new stock air filter in the airbox but its not hooked up of course. The gauges, everything works except the headlight. I haven't tried the horn though. The Suzuki tank, seat and motocross number plates aren't included unless you just have to have them for some reason! I think the coolest thing is the Denco 6-6 pipes. They have to be rare..The headers are pretty rusty but the pipes are pretty nice and SOLID.There are dyna coils, plug wires and maybe a dyna ignition. I didn't look at the ignition, all I know is it starts right up.The airbox intake on the lid was shortened. It looks like proper mods for the bike back then. Restored 1979 Honda CBX's bring around 9k. This one cosmetically needs a lot of refinishing but the electrics and engine are solid. Blinkers do work. Would be a great café racer project, or restore. There's a guy in Florida that has everything you'd need for that, and parts like brakes are inexpensive. It just doesn't need that much to get on the street in my opinion. I listed it as "reconstructed" but I don't have a title. The Owner died and never put the bike in his name, and no one in his family ever found anything on it. It came from South Louisiana where I bought it. I can go through the process of getting a Mississippi bonded title, it costs about $150. Of course I'll give you a bill of sale. I have a video of it running but I'm not sure how to share it on ebay. I will try to post on youtube or something soon. Shipping is buyer's responsibility. I am willing to travel up to 100 miles from Brandon Mississippi for free to meet buyer with paid deposit. I HAVE POSTED THE VIDEO OF IT RUNNING ON YOUTUBE Under my YouTube account (mwtt6) it is "IMG 5530".
