2001 MERCEDES E320 4MATICBlack exterior / tan interior Good car for a MB fan and enthusiast or person that is mechanically inclined and has knowledge and love for Mercedes to fix. This was my daily driver and it has treated me well. This car is super comfortable and a very pleasant driving experience. The 4 wheel drive system was great for the bad weather months and never had an issue getting stuck. What the car needs is for the transmission to be repaired or rebuilt. Car cannot be driven. Maybe you have access to put a used one in. It just failed recently and slips out of gear. Brought it to my mechanic and they reconfirmed it. However, I have completed some research and what I have read is this transmission is fairly common. It was built when Chrysler and Mercedes merged and became Daimler Chrysler and shares this same 5 speed automatic called the “722.6” with the Dodge Magnum and the Chrysler 300. It also came in some Jeep, Porsche, Jaguar and other products. The engine runs very smooth and still has all of its get-up-and-go life to it. It may have high miles but these engines were built to last even longer than this car’s mileage. I’ve heard some of these engines going into the 400,000 mile mark?! Now here are the “goods” and the “bads” to my knowledge: Inspection sticker is good till September of next year, 2018 and I have the clean title in hand with no liens.New drive shaft installedNew starter (Bosh) good qualityNew brake pads (all 4 wheels front and back)Light bulbs on all front and back lightsNew power steering rack installedNew cabin air filters – All 4New engine air filterEngine running strongInterior is in good conditionRadio is a Bose 7 speaker system that still sounds good Leather still softWood trim in shiny shape not brokenEven the cup holder that is famous for breaking still worksThe electronic programmable personal memory seat position buttons and function worksExterior and interior lights function Signals workA/C and heat workWindshield wipers workGood All-Season tiresAll electronics, buttons, and switches work Will need a new ignition key switch soon. (Intermittent random times of a/c and turn signals will stop but if you jiggle the ignition key they turn back on.)Transmission slips out of gear Body in decent shape (some bubbling along seems)Some body panel recently started showing rust bubbles. No holes yet , can be repaired and contained if done soon.One panel on driver’s side door was repaired.Sunroof stopped working. Not sure if switch, or what? This is all I can remember at the moment.
