Vehicle Detail
No Reserve! 1957 Ford Thunderbird convertible, 312cu V-8 with 3 speed manual transmission. Car comes with convertible soft top and removable hard top. Car is complete and solid but needs a complete restoration. I bought the car five years ago with the intention of restoring it. It has been sitting in my garage untouched since then, I just don't have the time to get to it. The person I bought the car from said it ran, but he had not started in in several years while it sat in his garage. It's all there, nothing seems to be missing. The odometer says all zeros, so I guess someone has replaced it with a new one at some point in the past. The Florida title says mileage exempt, so it doesn't really matter... The floors are solid, and the trunk floor, and door jams as well. I can see three small patches on the trunk floor, you can see a couple of them in one of the photos. The bottom of the doors are solid as well. The only real sign of rust is some small bubbles in the rockers where they have probably had work done in the past. The frame rails are solid. If you look at the right side of the engine there is a header installed, but the left side has the exhaust manifold. Not sure why someone did this, but the correct right side exhaust manifold is included in the sale. The engine appears to be complete but like I said I have never tried to start it. The interior is complete and in decent condition, but needs cleaning and the chrome polished to look good. Original radio is present. The color of the interior is bronze which is also the original paint color for the exterior of the car. Not many made that bronze color. As you can see the car is currently painted white. The paint is old, but does not show much in the way of rust trying to come through, and is probably at least twenty years old, maybe much more. The bumpers are complete and straight, and look pretty good, but really need to be re-chromed. The hard top is in good shape with no cracks or damage that I could see. The rear window was removed by the previous owner, not sure why, but I sat it back in position for the photos. I have not inspected the soft top, but it is present and folded down behind the seat back. It probably needs to be replaced as it has been folded down for years, and is bound to be damaged. The car is probably in better than average condition for an unrestored T-Bird of this age. I bought it because it was solid and did not need frame or floor repair, although I intended to replace the rockers instead of repairing the rust in them. I was going to pull the engine and rebuild it and replace the clutch at the same time, so to me it didn't matter that it wasn't running when I bought it. I have tried to honestly describe the car the best I can, check my eBay feedback score (100% positive) and you will see I am honest. If you are close you can contact me to come see the car. I have a clean Florida title in my name for the car. I can accept PayPal for the deposit, and then a bank transfer for the balance. If you want to ship the car (on your dime) I can assist your shipper. The car can stay in my garage (not forever...) until collected by the buyer or the shipper. No Reserve!
