This car is an absolute monster. 800+HP and 1000+FT/LBS at the motor using 16% loss calculation on the dyno. Motor replaced at 38k miles along with ABC pump. Performance upgrades performed at 58k miles. Executive rear seat package, keyless go, parktronic, nav, satellite, but not distronic. Heated/Cooled four place reclining massage seats, soft close doors, and all standard S65 options. The downpipes give the sound a mean bite not present in a standard S65, and the built trans present slightly firmer shifts, but otherwise this car is a docile as a cat when driven normally. Applying the throttle, however, virtually anywhere in the rev range provokes a "fear" response from your passenger. Motor Replacement: The largest single warranty claim in my dealer's 60 year history. When I purchased the car, it had 8900 miles on it. It burned a quart every 1300 miles. The lead benz mechanic said "its normal" but off the record said to keep track of consumption and if it got worse he'd fight for a replacement. As time when on, it began throwing Check Engine lights, and consumption went up to a quart every 900 miles. At that point, MB agreed to replace the motor, with only 38k on the clock. the new motor has never burned oil. Performance Build: This car made a trip out to Speedriven in Chicago the day after my CPO expired for 20K of work and a whole host of performance upgrades, some that are specific to this car and this car only. It has billet turbos, downpipes, top mount intercoolers, meth injection (just for cooling, not tuned for it) a built transmission designed to handle 1300 hp, and a Quaife Locking diff flown in from England. It has a custom Nascar supplemental heat exchanger, and a high flow intercooler pump out of a BMW. It has custom cold air intakes, and custom KN filters designed to flow the correct amount of air. It has a custom Speedriven tune for both engine and trans. Registering the car in a state that has a sniffer emissions test will prove to be a challenge, but a state that plugs into OBD2 port should be no problem. That being said, all parts removed at Speedriven come with the car, with the exception of the turbos as the billet company used my housings. Since I know that if you are looking at this ad you are tremendously concerned about fuel economy, I thought I'd mention that it still achieves 19mpg on the highway and the motor appears to be completely under-stressed, as the car doesn't consume any oil between it's 5k change interval since new. The frickin' suspension: Now, the fun part. ABC. The dumbest system ever designed by MB. All of these stupid cars have them, and it is in my view the entire reason you can buy this car so inexpensively. You would think they would have learned from Citroen that Hydraulic systems are terrible, but they did not. MB says it's a sealed system and doesn't need service. This is a recipe for disaster, and any of these cars needs to have regular maintenance to avoid failure. There is no one who has spent more maintaining this system than me, except for this one dude in England, I kid you not. Why not engineer a coil-over kit, you say? because the car doesn't have anti-sway bars, and when the ABC is working, it is miraculous to the handling of the car, making a 4900 pound car dance like a ballerina. Flaws: I have pictured the two major flaws...I am 6'6" and my side has abraided the fabric next to the seat. Also, the front splitter has wear on the bottom left side, it has been this way since I bought the car...I suspect the PO had the front lower panel refinished poorly but I have never felt the need to address. Service records: Anyone on EBAY selling one of these cars saying "needs nothing" is lying. If you defer maintenance, it will be at your peril. Once, a passenger had his foot across his lap and his shoe wore a small mark into the button for the glove box. I had it replaced at the dealer. The PART WAS 239 DOLLARS!!! I recently replaced the rear heater duovalve for the rear AC as it was stuck on, part was 350 dollars. Pictured above are just my service receipts performed at MB, not including the thousands I have done at W220 Repair, a specialist in this body vehicle. On top of that, there is the 20k at Speedriven. Most people give up a year before they sell and the car suffers from thousands in deferred costs. This one does not. Many on eBay are dealers who buy the cars with a failed suspension component, fix it as cheaply as they can, and sell it to you. I have been maintaining this system for 9 years. I have replaced all 4 ABC struts, both valve blocks with the upgraded new style (2500 a piece), both motor mounts, the accumulators are new, every hydraulic line, some twice, a few three times. I have replaced the power steering rack. Twice. There is not a more highly maintained S65 on the planet. I would recommend about 3k a year budget just to maintain the suspension if you have a good independent, about half that if you do it yourself. The lines should be inspected every month or two and replaced at the first sign of weeping. Brakes are about 3k every 30k miles. Tires, 1400 every 12-15k. I replaced brakes about 500 miles ago front and rear. Replaced front tires about 400 miles ago. I replaced ABC fluid about 8k miles ago, last steering rack at same time. I have a book of parts that have been replaced, the car drives as new but with a bit more bark and bite. Additional extras:car comes with a V1 installed and a last gen laser jammer that still works on 70% of police laser, legal in most states. It also comes with a Zeitronix monitor with wideband for EGT and Boost plus AFR and other parameters. There is an additional set of AMG factory rims available for a reasonable added cost, but they need a refinish. Also, I bought an OPTI-1 digital ring connector to hook up an aftermarket stereo head-unit worth about 400 that I am willing to include if car makes reserve. Because of the HP and Torque of this car, I would warn any prospective buyer that this car is inappropriate for the bulk of the population, and certainly not recommend as a first car or really for anyone under 25 without formal High Performance driving experience...it is a recipe for disaster. To be fair to all, and because we are so close, I am making the decision to announce it - though I think the car is worth far more.
