Vehicle Detail

The coupe has been disassembled for restoration – the project started years ago, got stalled with other work and never restarted. I’ve owned it for almost 40 years, so it’s pretty clear that I’m never going to get around to restoring it. It’s time to sell it to someone who can enjoy it. Good Stuff: · Started as a complete, running car, so all the bits are included – no need to source rare or expensive parts · Odometer shows 22885 miles, which I believe is accurate · The seats were reupholstered with original style wool velour at the beginning of the project (~ $2000) · Most of the interior wood trim has been refinished with polyurethane · The firewall forward parts were restored in an earlier restoration (including new original fenders) and that area seems in good shape · Floorboards were replaced – also in good shape · Engine starts and runs pretty well (it needs a tune up and carb cleaning) – transmission clutch and drive line were in good shape when it was taken off the road and should still be in good shape · The very nice original tool kit is almost complete (but some of the tools are a bit rusty) · New front brake calipers – brakes seem to be working well · All accessories (except the A/C, which at least needed a charge) were working well when the project started, and should still be in good shape · I will include some extra chrome trim that I picked up when I was buying other parts, so you can do some picking and choosing for the best bits, or sell some of the spares Not so Good Stuff: · There is serious rust in the rocker panels and lower rear fender inner panels (see photos) – usual coupe problems · The right rear fender has been removed due to rust in the outer and inner fender – I have a complete right rear fender assembly (see photo), including the inner fender and spring seat area, which is included with the project. The replacement fender has surface rust, but is structurally sound. · There is a hole in the lower driver’s door (see photo)– it was cut out to remove a rusted area – it should be relatively easy to repair it with sheet steel (and I will include several sheets that I have accumulated for the project). · Tires are worthless – good enough to roll the car, but not to drive on. · No sunroof · There is rust in the spare tire well – it may be surface, or the bottom of the well may have to be replaced Overall, this will be a significant rust repair project. It will require fabricating and welding rocker panel and lower fender panels, and doing some body work around the repair areas. If you were lucky enough to have a solid coupe shell, this would make a great donor car since the mechanicals and interior are in very nice shape.
