BOUGHT THIS TRUCK ON 5/14/2011 FROM GOT TRUCKS IN SCOTTSDALE, AZ IT WAS SOLD AS A THEFT RECOVERY THEREFORE IT HAS A BRANDED TITLE. I WENT OVER THIS VEHICLE WITH A FINE TOOTH COMB AND COULD NOT AND NEVER HAVE FOUND ANY BODY DAMAGE AT ALL SO I THINK IT WAS INDEED A THEFT RECOVERY. IT DID HAVE A FEW SCRATCHES ON THE FRONT BUMPER AND I HAD A '99 F-350 WITH A LOT OF MILES BUT A VERY NICE FRONT BUMPER SO I SWITCHED THEM BEFORE I SOLD THE 99. THIS ONE ALSO HAD AN ALMOST NEW LOOKING CLOTH SEAT. ON THE FARM I PREFER THE VINYL SEAT SO SAVED THAT SEAT OUT OF MY '99 AND RECOVERED IT. MAKES IT SOOOO MUCH EASIER TO CLEAN THE DIRT THAT ACCUMUALTES FROM FARM USE. I INSTALLED A HIDING FIFTH WHEEL BALL THAT I PICKED UP AT THE MESA FLEA MARKET. I LIKE THESE SO MUCH BETTER THAN THE B&W TURNOVER BALL BECAUSE THEY NEVER FREEZE UP AND IT IS SO SIMPLE TO UNLATCH AND ROLL THEM UNDER TO CREATE A FLAT FLOOR. ALSO INSTALLED SOME FULL CAB LENGTH DEEZEE RUNNING BOARDS THAT HAVE SERVED ME VERY WELL. THEN I COMPLETED MY REQUIREMENTS BY INSTALLING A CHAIN BOX IN THE RIGHT FRONT OF THE BOX. HANDY TO KEEP LOG CHAINS AND OTHER SMALL ITEMS TO KEEP THEM FROM ROLLONG AROUND IN THE BOX. ALSO PUT A BED MAT IN AND I HAVE TAKEN PICTURES WITH THE MAT OUT TO SHOW THAT BED IS IN GOOD CONDITION WITH NO RUST AND ONLY A FEW NORMAL PAINT SCRATCHES ON THE INTERIOR OF THE BED. SINCE I AM A SNOWBIRD THE TRUCK SITS IN THE SHED DURING THE WINTER SO HAS NONE OF THE PROBLEMS WITH RUST THAT MOST MIDWEST TRUCKS HAVE. I AM A RETIRED FARMER BUT HAVE MY SON FOR A TENANT AND STILL WORK FOR HIM ON THE FARM THAT HAS BEEN IN THE FAMILY FOR 5 GENERATIONS. IT HAS PERFORMED VERY WELL AND HAS NOT HAD A LOT OF VERY HEAVY USE. MOST OF THE TRIPS ARE FROM MY HOUSE IN TOWN TO THE FARM. IN THE 6 YEARS AND 70,000 MILES THAT I HAVE OWNED IT, I HAVE DONE THIS FOR REPAIRS. 1. ON 8/15/15 AND 81000 MILES INSTALLED NEW BALL JOINTS AND IDLER ARM 2. ON 8/26/15 AND 83151 MILES I GOT A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND DIAGNOSTICS SHOWED MISFIRE ON THREE CYLINDERS. NOT UNCOMMON TO HAVE SOME INJECTOR PROBLEMS ON THESE 6.0 ENGINES AND TOOK IT TO ELDON'S AUTOMOTIVE IN HASTINGS NE. HE IS A VERY RELIABLE INDIVIDUAL WITH MUCH EXPERIENCE WITH DIESEL ENGINES OVER THE YEARS. HE RECOMMENDED REPLACING ALL 8 INJECTORS SO TOOK HIS ADVICE AND THE TRUCK HAS RUN FLAWLESSLY SINCE. HE STRESSED THE IMPORTANCE OF CLEAN FUEL AND USE OF A FUEL ADDITIVE TO HELP LUBRICATE THE INJECTORS SO THEY CAN PERFORM WELL. ONE OF THE BENEFITS OF WORKING WITH MY SON IS THAT HE ALLOWS ME TO FUEL FROM HIS 9,000 GALLON ON-ROAD TANK. THE DIESEL FUEL ADDITIVE IS ADDED TO THE FUEL WHEN TANKER DROPS IT OFF AND FUEL IS DOUBLE FILTERED AS IT ENTERS THE TANK. iT HAS VIRTUALLY ELIMINATED ALL FUEL PROBLEMS WITH ALL THE DIESEL PICKUPS AND THE 4 EIGHTEEN WHEELER THAT PULL OUT OF THIS TANK. 3. ON 6/20/16 AND 90154 MILES I PULLED A TRAILER TO OMAHA AND BACK AND IT SEEMED TO BE SOMEWHAT SHORT OF POWER AND GASPING FOR AIR. SINCE AIR FILTER WAS REPLACED RECENTLY, WE COULDN'T AT FIRST FIGURE WHAT WAS GOING ON. FOUND THE RUBBER AIR TO AIR TUBES THAT FEED THE TURBO HAD DETERIORATED AND WERE SUCKING FLAT CAUSING THE AIR STARVATION. REPLACED THOSE AND PROBLEM WAS SOLVED AT THE SAME TIME WE INSTALLED A SERPENTINE BELT AND TENSIONER AND INSTALLED NEW PREMIUM SEMI METALLIC REAR BRAKE PADS. 4. HAS A SET OF RANCHO SHOCKS THAT WERE ON THE TRUCK WHEN I BOUGHT IT. CREATES A VERY POSITIVE BUT FIRM RIDE 5. CHANGED OIL AND FILTER RELIGIOUSLY EVERY 5,000 MILES. ALWAYS USED THE HEAVY SERVICE DIESEL OIL THAT IS USED ON ALL THE OVER THE ROAD TRUCKS AND ALLTHE VERY EXPENSIVE FARM EQUIPMENT. WE HAVE NEVER HAD AN ENGINE FAILURE DUE TO LACK OF LUBRICATION. I WILL PERSONALY GUARANTEE THAT THIS TRUCK WILL NOT USE A DROP OF OIL BETWEEN OIL CHANGES. OTHER THAN FUEL TIRES AND BATTERIES THAT IS ALL I HAVE DONE TO THIS TRUCK SINCE I HAVE OWNED IT. I HAVE ONLY USED THE 4 WHEEL DRIVE OPTION 12-20 TIMES AND UNLOCKED THE HUBS AFTER EVERY USE TO KEEP FROM ROTATING THE FRONT WHEEL DRIVE LINE WHEN NOT NECESSARY. YOU CAN SEE FROM THE PICS IT IS IN BETTER SHAPE THAN 95 % OF TRUCKS OF IT'S AGE. IN THE INTEREST OF FULL DISCLOSURE I WANT TO TELL EVERYONE THE FEW DEFECTS THAT THIS TRUCK HAS (AS ANY OTHER VEHICLE WITH 100,000 MILES) 1. WHEN STARTED THE RADIO COMES ON AND SHOWS THAT THERE IS A CD ERROR IN THE CD PLAYER. I HAVE NEVER TRIED TO INSTALL A CD BUT ASSUME THIS PARTICULAR FUNCTION IS INOP. 2. CRUISE CONTROL WORKS SOME TIME BUT NOT ALL THE TIME. KNOW IT CAN BE FIXED BUT NEVER USED TRUCK FOR LONG TRIPS SO NEVER BOTHERED TO FIX IT. DID PULL A CAR TO AN AUCTION IN TULSA AND IT WORKED THE WHOLE TRIP. DOESN'T SEEM TO WANT TO WORK NOW THOUGH. 3. ON THE TRIP BACK FROM TULSA WAS WITHIN 3 MILES OF HOME AND A SMALL DEER LAUNCHED OUT OF THE TALL GRASS AND WENT UNDER THE TRUCK JUST BEHIND THE LEFT FRONT WHEEL. WHEN IT BOUNCED IT DID BEND UP THE SHEET METAL JUST BEHIND THE DRIVERS DOOR. I BENT THE SHEET METAL BACK BY HAND BUT ON CLOSE INSPECTION,YOU CAN SEE THAT IT HAS BEEN DAMAGED. I HAVE A VERY GOOD MAN THAT DOES SOME BODY WORK AND THINK HE COULD FIX THIS FOR 2 OR 3 HUNDRED BUCKS MOST PEOPLE NEVER NOTICE IT SO WASN'T ONE OF MY HIGHEST PRIORITIES TO FIX 4. RIGHT SIDE HAS A RUB ON THE SIDE PROBABLY FROM A HEDGE ROW OR BRANCH. DON'Y EVEN KNOW WHEN I DID IT AND HAVE TRIED TO RUB IT OUT AND HAVE SUCCEEDED SOMEWHAT BUT ON CLOSE INSPECTION YOU CAN STILL SEE IT. 5. SEAT HAS SMALL SEPARATION STARTING ON DRIVERS SIDE WILL LIST THIS FOR A WEEK WITH A VERY REASONABLE STARTING PRICE WITH NO RESERVE. THIS IS HOW VEHICLES SHOULD BE SOLD IN MY OPINION. I VALUE MY EBAY FEEDBACK AND I ENCOURAGE YOU TO READ WHAT PEOPLE HAVE SAID ABOUT TRANSACTIONS THEY HAVE HAD WITH ME. VEHICLE IS FOR SALE LOCALLY FOR $8750. AND IF SOMEONE COMES UP WITH THAT FIGURE THE AUCTION WILL STOP.
