Also quite rare vehicle, its considered that only 1183 came with M-Sport Package here in the USA for that year, even less in Sapphire Black and that compared to well over 25.000 regular 5 Series. M-Sport Package that offered the exact same exterior trim all around, suspension and wheels as the legendary e39 M5 was available on 5 series only for final 2003 production year! The sport package is what makes this 540i so special. Unlike other sport packages, most of which are just trim, the BMW sport package completely redesigns not just the wheels and tires, but also completely changes and lowers the suspension, has a completely different transmission, torque converter and even a much shorter axle ratio! The sport package is designed for performance and includes: - Steptronic Transmission. Which is an ordinary 5-speed electronically controlled automatic transmission that also allows manual selection of gears. - High-Stall Torque Converter. This means the engine can spin faster, use more gas and thus make more power when starting off.- 3.15 : 1 performance rear axle ratio. This means the car is always in a lower gear than the standard 2.82 : 1 ratio. This way you always get more torque at the rear wheels and more acceleration.- M Suspension II. Unique for 2003. This is stiffer springs, shocks and anti-sway bars. It also lowers the entire car by 0.8 inches. It still rides nice and comfy, and makes it stiff and nimble enough for a lot of fun anywhere you drive. - M Footrest. Unique for 2003. - Black headliner. - M Sport Steering Wheel. Excellent thick leather steering wheel with perfectly positioned finger controls for the radio, CD player and cruise control. Overall extremely well maintained, enthusiast owned, appears to be garage kept, one of the cleanest i've seen. Starts right up. Runs and drives without any known issues, very pleasantly. Handles and steers just the way a German executive sports sedan would. All very tight. On the exterior paint is rich and shinny all the way around. No scratches really and looks very good. Minor exterior blemishes : on the front bumper some road chips and on the lower driver side a crack the (fog light works), small area by the rear passenger side tail light has flaking. Interior is very,very clean. Leather is beautiful as well as all the trim, slight normal wear on the steering wheel. All the buttons that i've tried worked, everywhere. All the electronic options work perfectly! Windows, mirrors, sunroof, power seats, telescopic steering wheel, you name it all works! Dual Climate Control works perfectly, AC blows cold and strong. Black headliner is gorgeous.All the gauges work and there are no warning lights on the dash. Like new matching and right size BF Goodrich tires all the way around.
