Vehicle Detail

You are bidding on a 1985 Mazda RX-7 GSL-SE, the last year of the classic first generation RX-7. I got the car from a seller in Kansas City who had brought it from its original home in California. The California sun had been hard on the finish so the car was very much in need of a paint job, but it was and remains rust free. A friend of mine who runs a foreign car repair service painted it in exchange for some money he owed me. I bought it in November, 2009 and my friend had it in his shop to paint it until June, 2010. Since then it has been driven very little, as I always intended to sell it after it was painted but never got around to it. The car runs well, but it is a 1985 so I would not use it as a daily driver, maybe more of a weekend fun car. I think there is a leak in the hatch window, as I noticed the sound deadening fiber mat under the rear hatch carpet got wet from rain, so I pulled it all out to replace it with batting I got at a crafts store. I have taken pictures of the place where the fiber was, and how it looks with the carpet back in place. I will give the seller the batting and adhesive I got to replace it. You will note it has the glass insert for the sunroof in a bag under the hatch. I have never had the glass roof in, I have always used the hard top insert, as it came. The car has been in our garage since I pulled the wet fiber, so the next owner should look into the seals on the rear hatch window, that is most likely where the leak is. Also the plastic foam like material on the steering wheel is pitted in spots--not a big deal, but you notice it while driving. Otherwise this is a clean, rust free car with about 120M miles on it. It is the fuel infected 13B version, with a manual transmission. I am selling this in a no reserve auction with a very low starting bid for a car in this condition. Please feel free to call Mike at 219-765-5910 with any questions, and thanks for looking! If you have any interest in a 1990 BMW 325i convertible check out my other listing. The car is located near Crown Point, IN 46307 about 2 miles south of Exit 247 on I-65. Winning bidder is to make a $250 payment by paypal within 48 hours of auction end with final payment within 7 days, though the car can be picked up later than that if needed. On Jul-19-17 at 19:45:48 PDT, seller added the following information: Hello to all bidders and watchers! This car is getting way more attention than I thought it would, and several bidders have asked if I have a "Buy It Now", which I do not. To give you some guidance, I would put this car well ahead of many first generation cars listed that have some rust or other damage and are a little rough, but behind others that are often listed more in the $8,000 plus range that have been substantially rebuilt. This is a nice car but it is 32 years old, so you will notice a bit of play in the steering, certainly more rattles than a new car, and a bit of lingering musty smell from when the sound deadening fiber that I removed got wet from the seal leak. Right now the bidding has this car around $2,750, probably the lowest of the RX-7's currently listed, and if I had put in a "Buy It Now" it would have been in the high three thousand to low four thousand range, but this is a no reserve auction, so high bid wins. Also I believe the mileage to be accurate, but in Indiana with cars this old the title lists EXEMPT on the odometer section. Also note the "Mazda" logo is missing on the front, but can be bought fairly cheaply, and while it was painted in 2010 there are a couple of minor scratches here and there. Hope this helps, as I want the winning bidder to be happy with the purchase, as I have 100% positive feedback and intend to keep it that way. PLEASE call my cell at 219-765-5910 with any questions. Thanks, Mike
