Vehicle Detail
This 1988 Pontiac Fiero GT has a stroked 2.8 liter engine (now 3.4), and many performance upgrades. It has a fresh driver quality paint job and new front bumper and side skirts. It’s a solid car with no accident history and a clean title. The 1988 Pontiac Fiero is known as the most desirable and collectible of the Fiero’s. Not only is it the last year of the Fiero, but it featured major design and mechanical improvements to improve the reliability and drivability of the car. For 1988 only, there was a complete redesign of the suspension, frame, and upgraded two piece brake calipers and rotors. The engine was also tweaked to reduce overheating. With only 6,848 Fiero GT’s built in 1988 it’s rare too. The interior of this fiero has been extensively detailed and looks like new. It features the original tan cloth seats, leather wrapped steering wheel, and auxiliary gauges. The owner replaced the original shifter with a Hurst unit that works very well. The sunroof brings some light into the cabin. The temperature gauge does not work, but almost everything else is functional. The exterior has been repainted its original color, bright red, and appears to be a good quality paint job. The look of the car has been improved with a front bumper that resembles that of a Ferrari F355 and added side scoops. The stance of this Fiero is just right having been lowered 1.5 inches. 17 inch Enkei wheels wrapped in brand new tires give the hint of what is under the hood. New headlight motors have replaced the finicky original units. Under the rear hood is a new crate engine built by ARI racing engines. The engine is a GM 2.8L 60-Degree V6 stroked out to 3.4L. The engine features a reconditioned PCM with performance chip. The stock exhaust has been replaced with high flow headers and a Borla exhaust system. This Fiero puts the power to the ground through its original 5 speed transmission with a newer clutch, flywheel, and clutch master cylinder to handle the extra power. Struts, shocks, upper and lower ball joints, and steering rod have all been replaced. The result from all this is that this Fiero looks, feels, and drives like a much more expensive car. The driving experience is guaranteed to put a smile on your face. The car feels light and dances through the corners. The extra power and sound of the new engine make this Fiero a real driving pleasure. For more photos, visit Fortpittclassiccars.com and look under the ‘For Sale’ tab.
