Vehicle Detail
Selling my 2007 Volkswagen Eos hardtop convertible. I drove this car faithfully one hour each way to work everyday. I bought it a year ago with a clicking sound in the motor and random misfire codes. The dealership was never able to diagnose the problem until one month ago when I lost compression in cylinder 1 and they suggest I replace the engine. I had another mechanic tear down the engine to determine the problem and he advised that the valve on cylinder 1 was leaking and also that there were metal shavings in the crank case. He believed the metal shavings caused irreparable damage to the motor and it was more economical to replace the engine than replace each damaged part. Due to my limited mechanical experience, I've decided to sell this car as is and just buy a new one. The car does start and drive, but it runs rough when idling. Once you hit about 15 miles per hour you can't tell there's anything wrong at all. Be aware though that the mechanic said the problem could get worse or the engine could fail completely. He believed the engine would not last through the summer. Aside from this ongoing and finally solved engine problem, everything else works fine to my knowledge. I've had the car 16 months and I've never had to add any fluids except oil. The car has never overheated and I've never felt the transmission slip or anything like that. I've never had any trouble from the power convertible top. Be aware that in torrential rain, a small amount water will collect inside a reservoir in the bottom of the doors and then drain when the doors are opened. I looked this issue up online and it seems to be normal for this car from what I understand, and from the fact that there are drains in the bottom of each door, I imagine it is how it is intended to work. I learned that lubricating the seals on the convertible top can reduce that occurring but I haven't had a chance to try that yet. The only non-engine related work I've had done to the car was a wheel bearing replaced this past December. The back tires and brakes were replaced last summer and the front tires will probably need to be replaced within a few months. There is some wear to the drivers seat, some light scraping along the ridge at the bottom of the front bumper, and a ding in the passenger rear side panel, probably from someone else's car door being opened or maybe a rock on the road, and some scraping on the side of the back passenger wheel like from a curb when parallel parking. Overall it's a good car and in awesome shape for being 11 years old. It's really fun to drive. The convertible top is really convenient to put up and down, and with the seat warmers and the heat on, you can be comfortable driving with the top down for the sunrise on a 50 degree day. I've had a lot of awesome times in this car and I hope someone with more mechanical knowledge than me will buy it and repair it and love it as much as I do. The heat, AC, seat warmers, cruise control, and all options and instruments are working properly to my knowledge. This car has a lot of features and settings and after a year I'm still discovering new things it can do. Please message me with any questions. If you buy the car I'll even give you my email so if you have any questions that come up later maybe I could help. I have the car for sale locally on the Bloomington, Indiana craigslist, so if it sells locally first, I will end this auction. A $500 deposit is due via paypal within 48 hours of the end of the auction with the balance due within 7 days.
