Vehicle Detail

I have for sale a 1957 Corvette project that is complete , running and driving and includes MANY new and NOS parts and a Hardtop ! The prior owners found this car in a field in around 1979 without a drivetrain and having left rear quarter damage as well as right front fender damage. Fortunately in 1980 they were able to source a LARGE number of NOS parts directly from a Detroit GM warehouse to use on the car. It was an ongoing project for many years to come. The rear quarter was replaced , and over the years the seam has split. There are other areas on the body that will need minor repair as well. It's not a cream puff, but it's not that bad either. All panels fit well and have good gaps. Body looks straight when you look down the sides. The entire original trunk tub is intact and was NOT damaged. The car appears to have been an original Red on Red car. The interior has had new carpet seat covers and door panels installed and ALL trim that you may see as missing IS included with the car, including but not limited to Door panel Pull inserts , Top Door trim , foot step panels (NOS) etc... it is a Good amateur interior that shows well. The current drivetrain is a 350 and unknown 4 speed transmission, it fires right up and drives and shifts well through all four gears through a Hurst style shifter. You could rebuild the carburetor and change valve cover gaskets and drive it as is Rat rod style for as long as you want ! Who else has a 57 Vette Rat Rod ? The sale also includes engine rebuild kit including cam and lifters , pistons and rings , bearings , gasket kit etc... MUCH of the interior and exterior trim pieces are ORIGINAL NOS parts. It includes many more parts including a FULL GM weatherstripping kit for the entire car and the Hardtop as photographs show, it also needs restoration and paint. Extra original style wheels but I am not sure if they are correct or have proper date codes. The car does need a restoration but you will be hard pressed to find a better project this complete as well as running and driving. The current wheels I believe came from a 1988 Trans Am and required different springs installed. I DO have the original rear springs. The front grill on the left has a crack in the surround ring which is easily repaired and rechromed. I am only selling this car that I was very excited to recently purchase as THE 1965 Big Block convertible I have been trying to buy for over 30 years is available now (of course) and I do not have time or funds to restore both. This car is ideal to create a GREAT Driver quality car with a reasonable input cost , or a FULL BLOWN Resto Mod car. Or drive it As Is ! I actually dig it this way. PLEASE ask ALL questions prior to bidding and ONLY bid if you are a capable buyer with funds at the ready. I will furnish my phone number to interested parties and ENCOURAGE viewing of the car prior to auction close. It is located in Beloit Wisconsin area, about 2 hours North of Chicago, 40 minutes South of Madison and 60 miles West of Milwaukee. Thanks for looking, this is a Great project for the right buyer.
