Same owner since 2003, bought as my "forever" truck but times and circumstances change. I've averaged ~4,700 miles a year on the truck (~61k in 13 years), not heavily used in the least. For the past 5 years it's been exclusively a grocery getter, one 70 mile day a week with the odd longer trip to pick up some larger item or another. Truck needs absolutely nothing at this point in time. I just completed a full water pump, timing belt, idle rollers, accessory belt, etc... service within the last 600 miles. Front brakes were replaced roughly 800 miles ago, I have replacement rear shoes for when those wear down enough (still fine currently), fresh brake fluid, fresh coolant. I'll complete an oil change with Mobile 1 when I have a committed buyer, tires have right at 10k miles. Transmission and differential fluids changed roughly 35k miles ago, all fluids that can be synthetic, are synthetic There are ZERO rust issues with this truck, a few spots of surface rust (or maybe red mud) on the frame welds, but everything structural is 100%. Deviations from stock are an aftermarket radio (using a Metra/Crutchfield harness adapter, OEM wiring is 100%), a Viper alarm/remote start system, LineX bed liner and Toyota OEM Aisin manual locking hubs that resulted in about 2mpg fuel economy gain on the highway. My mixed driving average fuel economy is 19mpg, with a high of 26 doing long term 55mph highway driving and a low of about 12mph when towing out in the Wyoming and Montana rockies. To the very best of my knowledge, this truck needs absolutely nothing. I'd trust it to get me to Alaska and back at a moments notice. The only "failure" I've ever had was a dead battery. Yup, that's it. There's a reason Toyota vehicles developed a glowing reputation. Speaking of their reputation, this was the very last truck model made and assembled fully at the Hino plant in Japan. Some people put a lot of stock in the "Assembled in Japan" aspect, I have to say that based on my personal experience after being in many newer Tacoma and Tundra trucks, I'm firmly in that camp.
