Vehicle Detail
1938 Studebaker K10 Fast Express, one of the rarest and most attractive post war trucks. Big brother to the smaller and more common K5 Coupe Express, the K10 was Studebaker's smallest truck built on a full size truck frame. Styled by famous designer Raymond Loewy total production was less than 100 units over the three years it was built. Needless to say those numbers make for very few survivors today, probably less than you can count on one hand. I have owned this truck for 25 years and never seen another. Original numbers matching engine, truck is totally complete down to its five original hubcaps. Brakes, master cylinder, steering box, starter, kingpins, spring shackles and bushings have all been recently rebuilt. No rust ever, truck has its original metal bed floor. Body, paint and chrome are in excellent condition. Speedometer and all gauges work as they should. Delux banjo steering wheel and optional Studebaker heater. Truck is as clean on the bottom as it is on the top. A beautiful one of a kind museum piece. The K10 was built from 1938 through 1940. It was offered with a wide all metal pickup box as this truck has, a narrow wood floor pickup box and most were sold as a bare frame to be fitted with various styles of flat beds, dump bodies, grain boxes etc. Total production of all types was 1000 units. I believe about 100 were fitted with the wide all metal box at the factory like this one. Studebaker club lists less that 10 of all types surviving. On Feb-02-17 at 05:51:16 PST, seller added the following information: I have been asked about the condition of the engine. I was told when I purchased the truck that the engine had been rebuilt. I pulled the oilpan and inspected the rod and main bearings. Bearings looked new, rod bearings were .10 undersized and mains were .020 under. I plastigauged the clearances and all were at factory spec. I could see that the cylinders had been freshly honed. Motor runs as it should no noise, smoke or leaks.
