While something of a throwback to the GT racers of 1963, it presented a great combination of styling and performance that looks as good now as it did 20 years ago.This beautiful example has 42k miles. It is completely stock and has nice options including the Z51 performance handling package (perfect for the Grand Sport). It has been well cared for and is in excellent condition throughout. It also has a good Autocheck report, scoring 57 on an expected range of 24-50.You cannot miss a 1996 Grand Sport, with its magnificent Admiral Blue paint (only available on the Grand Sport). And of course there are the white racing stripe, red hash marks, and rear fender flares to really make the car stand out. There are also special black aluminum wheels (17x9.5" front, 17x11" rear) patterned after the ZR1. Tires are from Sumitomo in the factory sizes of 275/40ZR17 front and 315/35ZR17 rear.The heart of the Grand Sport is the one-year-only LT4 engine. This represents a nice upgrade over the base LT1, providing an upgraded camshaft, higher compression pistons, larger fuel injectors, and revised aluminum heads with larger valves and roller rockers. This yielded a 10% power increase to 330hp and 340ft-lb, and a higher redline of 6,300rpm. Nice! The transmission is the very durable ZF 6-speed manual connected to the 3.45 rear end. The J55 high performance brake package has great stopping power, while the previously mentioned Z51 Performance Handling Package is aptly named, making for a very tight ride.The black leather interior looks great; it's hard to imagine this car is 20 years old. Options include dual power sport seats with inflatable back cushions. There is also automatic climate control along with the Delco Bose 6-speaker stereo with CD and power antenna. Note this example also has rocker sill protectors to protect the carpet when getting in and out.This is a fairly rare car. There were just 810 Grand Sport coupes built, of which only 276 had the desirable Z51 package (which was not available on convertibles). And with a sticker price of around $44k this was a pretty big deal in 1996. It still looks and drives great, and represents a nice investment as a future collectible Corvette.
