Vehicle Detail
Relisted because it didn't sell the first time. New lower price. But let me say that if it doesn't sell this time, it gets winterized and stored. It will not be listed again until the spring when car prices go up. This is a one year, AMC Hornet AMX with 304 V-8, automatic, and PS, PDB, AM/FM stereo, bucket seats, console, floor shift, gauge package. I added an Edelbrock four barrel manifold and 500 CFM carb three years ago. A little history: The AMX was a two seat sports car in 1968, 1969 and 1970. In 1971 it became a trim package on the Javelin through 1974 when the AMX name disappeared. It was revived in 1977 as a trim package on the Hornet hatchback. The AMX package included the wheel flares, rear window louvers, special interior trim on the door panels and roof mounted Targa band. The wheels are standard AMC style wheels and were an option on that model. The car runs great and is very reliable. It needs the carpet replaced and the rear door panels re-attached. Along with the car goes a set of NOS door pulls. Also included is a set (front and rear) of the flaming Hornet decals, a rebuilt power brake booster, new master cylinder, one set of rear door panels that are specific to the Hornet AMX, the original Blackstone radiator that needs to be cleaned and the original alternator that I have had rebuilt to factory specs with decal. I will also throw in a car cover. There are no other parts included in this sale. While up on a lift at the beginning of the summer, the mechanic told me there was wire hanging down. I looked and it was the back up light/neutral safety switch wire that had come off of the switch in the tranny. I cleaned it and reinstalled it but while I was under there I saw that the inner rockers had rusted through at the very front of the rocker. If memory serves me, the rust is about an inch or so high and maybe a five or six inches long. Now these cars had Zeibart installed at the factory and you can see the plugs with the name Ziebart on them in the rocker. Apparently they didn't spray it forward in the rocker. While under there I gave the car a once over and saw no other rust. I do not have access to a lift nor can I get down on the ground to get underside photos.
