What were they thinking?The hummel was belittled and bullied for decades,only to rise to the top like so many other oddities in the bikeworld.Styling can't decide if it wants to be medival or futuristic,just call it mid century modern.The tin banana as it was lovingly called in Germany was produced by a few companies,this one being made bei ZWEIRAD-UNION in Nuremberg Bavaria.It features a 500cc fancooled 2 stokemotor coupled to a 3 speed transmission and a chaindrive.A technical nugget,the rear hub as a rubber vibrationdamper,where 3 blades behind the sprocket claw into grooves in a rubber donut.Guess they tried to get the female vote.Enough with the general history.Wikipedia ought to clear everything up.This particular bike was taken apart ,professionally painted in the correct colorscheme.A lot of parts were sourced new,like rims,spokes,innertubes,correct white grips,a new exaust header as well as a new muffler and a new pison with rings.White vinyl seatstrap ,headlight to body seal amd the hard to find tank connector hose.The 16ich inch rims have gathered rust again,the tires are new and hold air.The tank was plted and painted but needs chrome again due to shoddy plating.the mtor looks 90 percent complete but I could not find a crank.Complete motors are available in Germany for around 500.This engine was used in many mopeds and bikes.This is worthy of finishing up seeing that good examples command 5 figure prices.Please look at the pictures closely,what is shown is what I have,that includes the rare as hens teeth ornamental engine cover,one of which I have sold for 500.Which brings me to-no I do not want to sell any parts of this bike individually.
