Vehicle Detail

Give a Hack a Home Won’t you please give this rig a good life? This hack deserves as better life than serving as a commuter vehicle in NYC. A rig like this screams out for a doggie in the car, leaf-strewn back roads, Oohs & Aahs at the local coffee shop. Ugly? Probably. But when you throw your spouse, or kid, in the tub, life will be beautiful. It’s nearly impossible for people to not smile when they see this coming down the road. And don’t you want to be the one who gets all the credit for such a fun machine? Driving this rig puts me in such a gentle & contemplative mood, even during my commute!, that I question why I’m selling it. There’s the old expression, “It’s more fun to ride a slow bike fast…” Well, this Thing loves to just toodle along, but I’ve cracked it open and passed vehicles going up hill. And don’t get me started on the sound of that opposed-four; it’s what sealed the deal and made me buy it. It’s a Goldwing, after all. You know you want a sidecar rig. Why else would you be reading this ad? The tug is a ’83 GoldWing 1100 Interstate, or was at some point in its life. It has a Vetter fairing with a cut down windshield. The tub is, as best as I can guess, a California Sidecar Friendship I. The linkage was looked over by Claude in PA, who pronounced it solid. I’ve walked all over it and found no weak spots. I added the locking top trunk, which will easily hold my folded-up Motoport pants in the lower part, my full-face helmet, or a few 12-packs of beer. I also installed a new-ish speedo cable and drive. Turn signal relay is new and digital. I replaced the turn signals, brake lights & dash lights with LEDs, and what a difference! Cosmetically, it’s a 34-year old machine with I don’t know how many previous owners. There are scratches and dings, and the chrome isn’t as shiny as it once was. There is no cover for the car, but I’ll throw in, free of charge, a classy, blue, plastic tarp and Rok Strap to keep out the elements. I’ll also include both Haynes & Clymer manuals. So, please, this rig needs a home better than the curb in New York. It wants to be garaged, and loved, and worked on, and envied by your neighbors. Make memories that will last. Give this hack a home - your home.
