Vehicle Detail
1976 Mercedes-Benz 280 Sedan W114 DB 870 Nickelgrun VIN: 114-060-12-122266 All original, un-restored, well preserved, garaged and well maintained mid-sized 280 sedan W114. NO RESERVE AUCTION, HIGHEST BIDDER WINS!!! Powered by the M110 DOHC (double overhead camshaft) 2.8-litre straight six cylinder gasoline engine and backed by a 4-speed automatic transmission. 2 owner car. (1st owner - 37 years; 2nd owner - 3 years). First sold in California where it spend 37 years and still sporting its original blue California license plates with decades of stickers. Absolutely rust-free car and photos of the undercarriage convey this. The body is in superb condition, all doors, trunk and hood closing perfectly. All trim is present and in excellent condition. The paint is mostly original; the hood was re-sprayed some time in the past. The only flaws I could find in the paint are a few door edge chips (touched up) and some cracks/broken paint on the right of hood area. All the glass is original and in excellent condition. The interior is amazing in nearly perfect condition. The overall impression upon opening the door is almost that of a new car. All door panels are unmarked, the carpet looks new with original floor mats and heat/sound barrier foam. The headliner is like new. The seat upholstery is 9 out of 10, with no rips, holes or wear. Non-smoker car. No weird smell, odor or any stains. The dash is almost perfect. There is one tiny crack, almost unnoticeable. The wood paneling is crack-free and gleaming like new. All the switches, buttons, knobs, odometer and gauges work; the clock does not. The air conditioning blows ice-cold, central locking works as it should, electric windows all operate properly without any hesitation. The electric antenna goes up, but struggles going down. Headlights, taillights, side markers, turn signals, interior lights, trunk light, glovebox light, horn - all work. Even the cruise control works! Recently serviced—oil and filter change, fresh coolant, carburetor and timing adjusted, A/C serviced, new spark plugs and wires. The car runs and drives beautifully. The motor is excellent—quiet and powerful. The transmission shifts smoothly through all gears. The brakes are firm; the suspension is excellent, great handling and no creaks or thumps. Set of period-correct whitewall tires - 90% life remaining. Included the original Owner’s Manual, jack and spare tire. This car is ready to be enjoyed right away. The car is a dream to drive and evokes interest and compliments everywhere it goes. Clean and clear Title and Bill of Sale on hand. I’ve tried to describe the car to the best of my knowledge and point out its virtues as well as its flaws, but being a 40-year old car, there will be maintenance or repairs that will be needed in the future, and so it is sold as-is, without warranty expressed or implied. I encourage you to come out and view it in person if possible. $500 deposit due immediately after the end of the auction (NO EXCEPTIONS), balance within the next 3 days via bank wire transfer, cashiers check or cash. This is a WORLDWIDE sale. I can help organize the shipping in the U.S or to anywhere in the world. * 904-881-4315 *
