Vehicle Detail
1997 Lincoln Mark VIII 8 Vortech Supercharged 6-Speed (T56) Blown engine, everything else is functional. This has been my project car for the last 12 years. I bought it with 144k. I installed a T56 6-speed at 180k miles. Installed a low mileage engine at 200k miles and a Vortech supercharger at 225k miles. Unfortunately, I blew the engine recently due to a fouled spark plug that caused a violent detonation and it damaged a piston. It was not a violent failure as the car would still start and almost idle on 7 cylinders after the event (once I put new plugs in it). This is significant because I tested the clutch and it engaged fine and the car would move on its own power, so all other components are perfectly functional. However after a couple starts, it no longer turns over. I do not have the time nor the space to rebuild or put another engine in this beast. My loss, your gain. The tuning is near perfect besides a slight lean tip-in and idle surging. If I replaced the spark plugs at 12 months, the engine would likely still be running hard. This is barely a Mark VIII anymore as it was pushing ~500 hp at 6000 RPM @ 9.5 lbs of boost. I never ran it at the track but, it would have pulled a mid-low 12 second quarter mile pass as it slightly pulled on my '07 C6 Corvette. You can either put a working 32v (DOHC) 4.6L (or larger) engine into this beast, or use its parts to build up a 96-2004 Mustang, Thunderbird, Cougar, or other Hot Rod. You could also purchase this car and part it out and make a lot of money. I have listed the parts below, and have conservatively estimated that they could be sold individually for over $12,000. This does not include all the standard parts that could be parted out as well for more profit (glass, fenders, interior, and other misc. items). If you were thinking about doing any of these upgrades to your Mark VIII, Thunderbird and Cougar, you can't go wrong with buying this car. I have spent over $20,000 in these parts alone, and had to custom make and/or custom fit a lot of them. This is your chance to go build this same beast at a fraction of the cost, while having all of the custom engineering already figured out. The body has a lot of miles on it, but spent the 1st 225,000 miles in FL and was not a daily driver up North, however wear and tear parts have low miles on them: Transmission (<40,000)Driveshaft universals joints (<40,000)Differential (<15,000)Clutch/flywheel/slave cylinder/throw-out bearing (<1,000)Supercharger system and all components (<15,000)Suspension bushings, ball joints, tie-rods, strut mounts & wheel bearings (<15,000)Brakes (<10,000)ABS Unit (<60,000 miles)Tires are at 80% (8/32" tread)This action is for the full car. Buyer is responsible for picking it up or arranging shipping. The car is also listed locally, so I reserve the right to end the auction at anytime. All the details are listed below:Engine & Super Charger:Head Unit: V1 S-Trim Vortech, 3.33 Pulley; Running 9 lbs @ 6,000 RPM. ~10k miles on it.
