Vehicle Detail

You are looking at a no-reserve auction on a very nice, clean Toyota Land Cruiser FZJ-80. This particular body-style (1992-1998 year range) Toyota Land Cruiser is widely regarded as the most dependable factory-built 4x4 SUV ever to traverse Planet Earth. With coil-sprung front & rear solid-axles, it has both off-road ruggedness & a comfortable ride on the street. It's very typical to see these with well over 300,000 miles on the odometer. With only 188k miles; this one has been driven 9,000 miles a year since it was new (which is very low by all averages). I actually remember seeing this VERY rig driving around our small city since it was sold here brand-new by Lyon's Toyota (it still wears the namesake sticker on the rear hatch in fact, and that dealership is still in business here today!). I've listed it here on eBay for a friend. It's only had 3 owners to my knowledge, and has obviously been well taken-care of & garage-kept. ...read on... It has nice factory original paint overall, with a few scuffs & scratches (see up-close photos of those areas). The plastic side view mirrors are a bit faded, but could likely be buffed back out to the high-luster shine that the rest of the paint exhibits. All of the glass is good. Transmission is tight, operates perfectly with no mushy shifts (nice & firm in every gear). Air Conditioning blows cold just as it should, and all other accessories work except the power-antenna (which is stuck in the up-position anyway, so the radio reception is great). The interior is in very nice condition with no cracks on the dash, and nice carpeting, headliner & door-panels. There is a rip on the driver's seat bottom cushion, but seat covers which match the factory interior surprisingly well were recently installed, so it's out of sight & protected from any further wear now. There are removable 3rd row seats, so it can truly be an 8-passenger machine (if you were even considering a Chevy Suburban). There is very little rust on the vehicle, and the frame is rock-solid. It doesn't have the undesirable SAT-NAV system option (which most Land Cruiser enthusiasts prefer NOT be present). Everybody these days has modern GPS & Smart-Phones for navigation, anyway. There's always old-fashioned maps & atlases we can use, too. This Land Cruiser has every other desirable option, except locking differentials. It's already full-time 4-wheel-drive, with a couple of transfer case ranges & options (all of which work just as they should), but if you're a SERIOUS off-road enthusiast... it could be easily converted over to the diff-locker style (from the reading I've done about that conversion option). Something a lot of Land Cruiser owners neglect to maintain are the the front axle steering U-joint knuckle/hubs. These were both re-packed using a full tube of grease on each side during a front differential service about 30,000 miles back. Maintenance records are another important aspect of purchasing one of these Land Cruisers (so that you know exactly what work's been completed throughout the lifespan of the vehicle). This one has been fairly meticulously kept up over the years, with the odometer mileage &/or date documented whenever any specific work was performed. Some of these maintenance jobs include the following: Recent shock-absorbers all the way around. New Battery in 2011; new Toyo A/T Open Country tires in 2014, recent V-Belts replaced, Split-Exhaust Y-Pipes professionally welded in 2011 (common leak point on these 4.5 liter inline-six cylinder engines ). Exhaust is totally quiet with no ticks now. Distributor O-ring recently replaced, new valve cover gasket installed with RTV blue gasket-maker just on the cam-seals (a common leak-point to miss when performing this job). Dual Overhead Cam 24 Valve Engine is smooth, quiet, and exhibits no extra noises whatsoever. Runs just as it should, and doesn't drip fluids on the driveway. Good, straight alignment, tight steering with no play in the wheel, new brake pads in 2014. Coil-set replaced, distributor cap, rotor, plugs & wires all done at 153,000 miles. New PCV valve, Injector flush completed, as well as an intake manifold flush (recommended by Toyota dealership... though dubious as to how necessary those things were). Cooling system was also recently flushed (something with more actual credible importance). It has a tow-package and trailer-brake controller, but it was only used a couple times over the life of the vehicle. This Land Cruiser is ready to roll. It runs & drives just like you would expect a Toyota to, and I'd say you could hop in it, and drive anywhere on the Continent at a moment's notice. I don't know what else to say about it. If you would like to come take a test-drive, or schedule a local inspection, we welcome that. If you've read the description, this vehicle will not disappoint. You may message me through eBay with any further questions. I have familiarized myself with the vehicle fairly extensively, however; the owner, Bill Bowen may be contacted at: (641) 424-3846 if there's anything that I might be unable to answer for you. He's enlisted my help in finding this collector-car a new home. By bidding on, or otherwise agreeing to purchase this 20yr old vehicle, you acknowledge that it is being sold as is with no warranty. A $250 security deposit is due within 5 days of auction's end. Remaining balance due within 10 days. Cash in person is preferable, but if you are having this Land Cruiser shipped with an auto-transporter, a cashier's check, money order, or bank wire-transfer to Mr. Bowen is acceptable. Deposits are considered non-refundable. I've had excellent experience with Atlas Auto Shippers (888) 285-2706 over the years, and Patricia can give you a quote right over the phone from here in Mason City, Iowa 50401. I have other shipping contacts as well if you would like to shop around. Atlas is usually pretty competitive on price, though. Thanks for looking!
