BACKGROUND And let's start with this car’s history. Purchased first here in sunny Southern California, this car has seen and easy carefree and loved life. Never abused, banged around or filled with cargo, she has stayed in very nice condition. She has spent her entire life in Southern California since and has exclusively serviced by Mercedes dealers ONLY. Painted in classic Capri blue over Cashmere MB-Tex, this big Benz looks the part of a stately SUV without looking like an airport limo. (So many black on black GL and ooof, are they bad - Hello, your Uber is arriving...). This color combo feels bright and airy on the inside with the right touch of color and depth on the exterior. Standard features included: An incredibly capable 335hp naturally aspirated 4.6L V8 7-Speed Automatic Transmission A chassis built from the ML class which feels more relaxed, comfortable and capable than the rough and unrefined G-Class Mercedes Full time AWD via the Mercedes 4-Matic System which can adapt traction to conditions. Massive 26.4 gallon fuel tank for less stops on long trips. 8-Way Adjustable Sport Seats, Leather Steering Wheel, Rain Sensing WipersDual glass sunroofs Electronic folding 3rd row seatingHeated front seats and SO, SO MUCH more. The base price of this stunning GL450 was $57,750 all but 8 years ago! Then came the options!! First came the color. Capri Blue was a special order option for $750. Then came the following options: H04: Birds Eye Maple Wood Trim P01 Package U80 : 115V AC Power Outlet 049 : iPod/MP3 Media Interface Cable 218 : RearView Back-Up Camera 220 : PARKTRONIC 242 : Power Passenger Seat w/Memory 249 : Autodimming Mirrors 275 : Pwr Dr Seat & Steering Column w/Memory Pkg. 441 : Pwr Telescoping & Tilt Steering Column 500 : Power Folding Mirrors 512 : COMAND w/Navigation and Voice Control 517 : HD Radio with SIRIUS Satellite Radio and Real Tim 518 : iPod/MP3 Media Interface 810 : harman/kardon Sound System w/Dolby 5.1 889 : KEYLESS-GO 890 : Power Liftgate R55 19" Wheels 866 Pre-Wiring for Rear Seat Entertainment That was $8,345 in options! This car cost $66,095 out the door only recently! This is a HUGE amount of car, performance and money for the price. With only 59,900 miles, it looks and rides like new. This blue beauty stallion has lived in sunny California for her entire life, and is therefore rust and corrosion free. CONDITION & SERVICE This car has been ENTHUSIASTICALLY and PROFESSIONALLY maintained. Moreover, it was serviced exclusively by Mercedes of Encino and WI Simonsen Mercedes of Santa Monica, two of the most well respected dealers in the country. LOADS of carefree miles to go! Best yet: this Mercedes still has a year left on its extended factory warranty which is transferable to the new owner! This car has been under Mercedes factory warranty, Mercedes Certified Pre-Owned Warranty and Mercedes Extended Factory Warranty since new! That is the type of history you want to see with a car, knowing that the dealer has taken care of every need for the car since birth. Let's go another step on discussing the service it has received. Let's start on the engine and drivetrain: -ENGINE This engine has low miles for the year (a low average of about 7,500 a year), 59,900 miles appear on the odometer and the car shows the same care throughout. Starts right up, no issues, no check engine lights - ZERO stories. But let's chat about that engine for a second. What an engine it is! GOBS of power - a tame kitten around town, but up and MOVES with a heavy right foot. The 335hp feels not a hp shy and the car springs to occasion if you give it the opportunity. The engine has been incredibly reliable and has only needed regular maintenance. The only exception and great part about being under factory warranty, the dealer recently saw some small moisture from the rear main seal and under warranty replaced it. Service "B" (oil change, filters, inspection) ~1,500 miles ago. BRAND NEW engine and accessory battery at same time as Service B. -TRANSMISSION Shifts are incredibly quick, smooth and almost totally imperceptible. I was actually pleasantly shocked just how good this 7 speed automatic trans truly is! Shifts are telepathically good! No hanging onto gears too long, no dropping down when you don't want it. It always seems to be in the exact gear you want, in the powerband and is lightning quick. Lets move to the suspension and brakes: -BRAKES Babied and near BRAND new brake pads and rotors in the front - loads of pad life! Rears were just replaced ~5,000 miles ago. Fronts have less than 100 miles on them. These brakes have been used with care and never been cooked or abused. The truck brakes great. Nice linear pedal pressure, not too soft, not too hard of a pedal. Great feel for the road in the pedal too - not too isolated! -SUSPENSION Air suspension is fully functional, with no issues and has been regularly serviced. It has received a BRAND new airbag recently, BRAND new sensors, and a BRAND NEW suspension module. All fully functioning and comfortable as could be. The shocks dampen the ride wonderfully and control the springs perfectly. No clunks, bangs, noises or knocks. They are tight in corners, but yet supple around town!` -STEERING The steering is tight and has no excess play. It has a nice light-medium weight to it, with great road feel! -CHASSIS This is another incredibly surprising and wonderful part of the GL that few people may discuss. The chassis, or structure/backbones of the car, are critical to a good handling car. But too tight and the noise and harshness will be too much. Too soft and the car will not handle well. The GL is WAY more comfortable around town than any BMW, but yet tight that when hustled feels confident and tight. Let's continue to the exterior: -PAINT The paint is very nice! It is a 8+ out of 10 easily. Shiny, beautiful Capri Blue paint was recently polished, finished and waxed by a highly acclaimed detailer here in LA. It looks FANTASTIC. CLEAN and CLEAR CarFax. NO ACCIDENTS. There are a few small and easily fixable cosmetic flaws. There are a few very small dings and small scuff which could likely polish out on the drivers side rear door area. There are also a few scrapes on the upper side of the rear bumper from loading a heavy box. Very hard to notice things too since the blue hides little marks well. This is a used car which was well loved, but please note there will be minor marks, wear, tear etc that may not be listed, but all well below the expectation for a 59k mile truck. Have just pointed out the noticeable flaws. This is a dry SoCal car! That means no rust lurking under the surface ready to pop up and ruin your paint! If there was a place to buy ANY car, it is dry, warm SoCal. No rain and no road salt! -WHEELS The wheels are in wonderful shape and with the exception of some very very light flaws and some fading of the MB logos they make no excuses.. Again, you need someone to point them out unless you are face to face with the wheel. They look brand new and shine beautifully!! Not curbed, no peeling finish. -TIRES Tires are in good shape without any cracking or odd wear. They have ~50%+ life remaining in the front 30% in the rear and given the wear we have seen I expect that to be about 9k in the rear before thoroughly done and 15k in the front, that said, your driving style, temp, roads etc will all affect that. No leaks, no issues! -GLASS Not to let a pebble defeat this car, the windshield and glass are great shape! -BUMPERS & TRIMBumpers are great, if note small scrapes mentioned above. The plastics are whole and not cracked though some of the black bumper plastics have some light sun fade, which is not very noticeable. All body trim is in very nice shape! The window trim has a clear plastic film which makes it a bit glossy and like most GL has some areas in which it has peeled off a bit. Again, not very noticeable, but present and worth mentioning. -TOW HITCHThis truck was not ordered with a tow hitch, but in order to make sure she was ready for the call of duty if need be, an OEM Mercedes hitch receiver and wiring was added to the truck. The stealthy hitch hides under the bumper quite well and is ready to tow if you choose! We towed a small car on a trailer with it 2 or 3 times and it performed flawlessly, like it wasn't even back there. Onto the cabin: -SEATS The MB-Tex seats are fantastic!!! MB-Tex is the leatherette which is standard on Mercedes here in the US and it is by far a better option than the real leather. Everyone thinks their MB is leather, but generally it is MB-Tex, but for good reason! It lasts FOREVER. Spend a moment to Google MB-Tex. Feels like leather, looks like leather, lasts decades and decades. There are 400k mile Mercedes from the 70s and 80s with interiors that look brand new. Leather needs too much care, it cracks it changes with temp too much. This is THE seating surface to have and looks fantastic in this truck. The seats are incredibly supportive with what feels like zero foam wear. The leatherette is SO soft and comfortable. I truly love driving this car. You sit bolstered comfortably and in wonderful seating position in these buttery soft seats! The MB-Tex has been very well cared for and shows only EXTREMELY minor flaws at worst. The drivers side has a tiny of bit of fold marks and tiny bit of wear from sliding in and out of the truck, but nearly unnoticeable unless pointed at. No splits, lose threads or issues. The interior has been recently cleaned and conditioned as well! With dual seat heaters too they are a very nice place to spend time! The multiple power settings, memory positioning and adjustable and telescoping steering wheel allow for a comfort position for near any driver! -HEADLINER Beautiful and clean! No issues! -CARPET Beautiful carpet in the car! It has been shampooed and cleaned as part of the overall detail. Very nice with only minor flaws and some light marks. -NAVIGATION Fully functioning, easy to use Navigation system! Voice commands, easy to read and easy to navigate menus. Wonderful! -RADIO/CD CHANGER OEM radio sounds fantastic - deep, rich sound with clear lows and well defined highs. The Bose system allows you to hear parts of your favorite songs you never even noticed before! XM ready! -AC/HEAT/HVAC Panel AC is ice cold and Heat is earth core hot! -STEERING WHEEL The leather is very nice with some very light wear on the top showing just a slightly lighter color -KEYLESS ENTRY Remote keyless entry arms the alarm with a press of a button! The keyless start works perfectly too. Just keep your key in your pocket, sit in the car and press START! BRAND NEW trunk latch. BRAND NEW door latch. -CARGO AREA Beautiful, essentially unused trunk. Had a cover over the carpet for most of its life. Some very light wear and marks on the side carpets. The Experience Driving this Mercedes is truly is fantastic. It is SUPER quiet inside, pulls and handles like a sports car and is as comfortable as a Rolls Royce. It has LOADS of power, a communicative chassis, wonderful brakes, a well tuned suspension and is an absolute treat to drive. That said, for those of you that enjoy cars, but aren't looking for something to become deeply involved in the driving experience, fear not - this car is a wonderful, casual, great place to spend time. Easy to drive and otherwise a beautiful luxury car! I will miss her, she has been a great truck for the family and taken us to some great places. Hope she finds a home that loves her as much as us! Don't spend big money on a car from a "turn-em-and-burn-em" style dealer when all they do to promote the car is say a few things they think people like to hear. As you may tell from my ad, I know cars and what they need and the details that make them tier 1, from a tier 2 or worse and I hope to have addressed them to those of you that know as well. This is solid miles for Mercedes of this year, but please just remember that no 59,900 mile car is perfect. It is though a clean, nice GL450! Please note, I have done my best to explain and describe this car, but that does not mean that I could have missed something or have not fully described something because it is very small and considered general light wear and tear. It is impossible to list every detail of a car so the most material and obvious things are discussed. Please only bid if you intend to buy.
