2003 Jaguar VDP Sedan 66k miles To many the X308 series (1998-2003) are the last of the true Jaguars, more powerful and fuel efficient than their predecessors, the X300 XJ6 (1995-1997) and sleeker and sportier than the "Lincolnesque" X350 XJ series that replaced them in 2004. They can also be a great value for money also, but the thing to do is to get the best year, the one with five years of constant improvements and refinements, the final year, the 2003. The most significant improvement for 2003 model year was the introduction of the third generation metal timing chain tensioners and stronger Morse multilink primary timing chains... If you are not familiar with the issues associated with earlier X308s fitted with plastic timing chain tensioners, you would do well to educate yourself on the subject...Few automobiles can compare with the level of sensuous luxury found exclusively in the Vanden Plas. No Jaguar is roomier or more lavishly equipped inside. Generous quantities of select burl walnut are hand-polished, mirror-matched and inlaidwith Peruvian boxwood. Auotlux upholstery, the finest grade of all Connolly leathers, adorns the seats and door trim, whileplush lambswool footwell rugs lie underfoot. Rear passengers are further enriched by walnut picnic trays that fold out aswell as controls that allow those in back to move the front passenger seat as needed to provide added legroom. The VDP's regally extended carriage affords driver and passengers a boulevard-smooth ride with a finely calibrated suspension... I am a retired Jaguar sales professional with 30+ years experience beginning in 1977 with British Motor Car Distributors (BMCD) and this is my mother-in-law's car which I sold her 11 years ago at my last dealership in Mission Viejo under Jaguar's "Select Edition" program. She is now at an age (93) where she is not driving as much as she used to, she has put only about 2000 miles on it in thepast three years, and now has now asked me to find a new home for it. It has always been garaged and serviced on a regular basis, (three oil changes in just the last 2k miles), never smoked in, recent headliner, perfect paint, flawless leather & wood, no accidents and has covered less than half of the miles that would be typical for cars of this year. In my many years with Jaguar Cars I have come to know these vehicles well and have driven many examples. Without reservation Ican say that this car looks elegant and drives superbly! It has the appearance of a car that might cost $20/$30k or more...Why not own a true quality luxury automobile at the price of a used Toyota...
