Vehicle Detail
2008 Toyota Corolla S in Silver with just about 90,000 miles. One owner (female), well maintained and in excellent condition mechanically. Cosmetically in great condition for the mileage, with a few dings and issues that I have tried to catalog in this listing. Please feel free to send any specific questions about condition that you may have. This is a perfect, reliable car for a college or high school student. We had a second corolla in the family for a few years (when I had a very long commute) and ran it up to 140k miles with no issues other than tires, brakes, and oil changes. This one has been the same way! We are only selling because our family is expanding and it's just a bit too small. The Good:Clean title in handNo mechanical defects or issues that we are aware of. It is still driven daily (about a 20 mile commute). We just recently (within the last 18 months) had the extended warranty expire and we have records of most services performed if desired. This has a timing chain so don't worry, you're not about to run into a timing belt change! Tires are about a year old and about 8k miles on them. We typically get about 40k-50k out of tires so these have plenty of lifeRegular synthetic oil changes and maintenance (we have most of the records)Has side impact airbags (optional, and reasonably rare on the 2008 corollas)Never smoked in or abusedRemote locking, power locks, power windows, power sunroof. All work flawlessly. Both sets of keys and valet keyIssues of Note: The car was rear ended in 2009 in CT and required a new bumper cover. It was a light hit from someone that didn't judge the distance well enough....absolutely no structural issues, just a bumper cover, we didn't have to replace bumper supports or anything else. You would never be able to tell there was a hit, but it will probably show in any CarFax reports because it did go through insurance. There is a small chip (spider-crack) in the windshield. It is the original Toyota windshield. We can have the windshield replaced through our insurance no problems, but we thought you as the buyer may prefer to decide if it's worth replacing a windshield. Chip happened in the winter and has not spread. I tried to capture it in one of the pictures. The rims are starting to have some flaking and bubbling. It's a really common issue for these wheels and they can be replaced fairly cheaply (about $125 each on ebay or even cheaper if you can score them at a junkyard). There's no mechanical issue, just cosmetic. You could also have them refinished, but seemed to be almost the same cost as getting them new. There are some small chips and scratches, I've filled in most of the chips to prevent any rust from starting. The pictures of the hood illustrate the touch-up. It was supposed to be the exact color from Toyota, but it doesn't match exactly. There is some wear on the interior plastic panel just below the radio. It also seems quite common in corollas. I tried to capture that in one of the pictures. We want this car to go to a good home. :-) It has been great for my wife and we want to be up front about all the issues and also all the great aspects. This thing will run problem free for years - just change the oil and regular maintenance. Clean dealer price is $8900 with options (sunroof, power windows, locks, alarm, side airbags). We're seeing private sales around $7500 list. We're asking $7,100. Again, this would be a great first car, or reliable commuter car. I am also happy to take this for a pre-purchase inspection (you arrange payment with the mechanic). There's a great shop nearby (Atlee Auto, Mechanicsville, VA) I have no affiliation, but we used them for oil changes and inspections and seem to run an efficient shop.
