Vehicle Detail
1950 Dodge Power Wagon This nostalgic custom began as a tow truck sourced from Fargo North Dakota. The tow body was removed, and a pristine period correct pickup bed was installed. All components were brought to its “bare” birthday suit (sandblasted) prior to beginning the project. Being a former Tow Truck the frame is a double chassis. Restoration of the body began with Epoxy Primer Top Coated with a beautiful metallic Pearl Green & Black Two Tone paint scheme. Body & fenders are all original. The grill is custom fabricated to resemble the original with some added attitude. Custom fabricated bumpers give this beast a polished but serious look. The front custom bumper sets the stage for the original military grade winch that has been converted to be run using an electric motor. This true one of a kind custom has so many modifications I am sure to forget a few. While the exterior has a near stock appearance, original it is not. The chassis is clad with original differentials and stock 5.89 gears driven by the original “Divorced Transfer Case" and that’s where the original components stop. This monster is powered by a 360 Mopar small block nicely fitted with a healthy (Lunati) cam. Fuel is dispensed by a reliable Edlebrock carburetor and the fire is created by a Mopar Performance electronic ignition system. While the engines description is a small block the appearance screams Hemi. Thanks to a "Darnell Customs" one of a kind 392 Hemi look a like valve covers, accented by neon lime green taylor plus wires. Additional engine accessories include a GM Delco 100 amp alternator, and GM power steering pump. Yes, I said POWER STEERING! This chassis has been fitted with a Saginaw Power steering gear box that tames this monster both on and off the trail. Don’t let the street rod like appearance fool you, this gem is trail proven as it has been to the Vintage Power Wagon Rally multiple times. Now back to the drivetrain. The (warmed up) engine delivers the torque to the wheels though a TH700R4 transmission. You read that correctly, this monster has a automatic overdrive transmission, making normal never obtainable highway speeds, obtainable. The connection between the two are possible thanks to a TCI transmission adapter kit mated with a mild stall torque convertor. Now that the secret is out on what powers this monster, I should mention how to stop it. The cab has been fitted with a GM hanging pedal joined with a vacuum booster and dual circuit master Cylinder. By now you’re probably wondering about the interior. The original bench seat is draped with a custom black and colored tweed with matching custom door panels. As you view the door panel pictures you may notice two things missing. One no window crank (That’s because it is has power windows) and two, no vent window. The door has been reengineered to have a single piece glass (Safety plate and tinted). Also upon viewing the interior pictures, you will notice the GM tilt column and under the dash HVAC unit. No sense sweating you A$$ off while cruising, trail riding, or participating in a parade! All three of which this truck is well experienced in. All engine parameters can be monitored using the custom instrument display backlit in green of course. Oops almost forgot to mention the power electric delay wipers that clear the factory opening front windshield. All power conveniences are supplied their juice through a new ATO type fuse panel and wiring harness. Back to the body, even though from the top side you see a high gloss, show like two stage urethane glass finish, from the bottom side the truck is all business. The running boards are coated top and bottom with the durable Rhino liner coating as are the fenders undersides, along with the underside and the inside of the pickup bed. Just to remind you that this truck is a true monster, the top sides of the bed has decorated with flames from hell. To make this warlock even more street friendly a set of unlocking hubs have been added to the front differential. Keeping the nostalgic retro rod look alive is complimented by the original rims clothed in new reproduction original size, style, and Tread, Denman tires. While driving this fine machine you will be gawked at, questioned, and envied. With the HVAC system you’ll be clueless on the temperature outside, so we installed a a digital outside thermometer that is displayed on the rearview mirror head assembly. Even though this prize was built and completed a few years ago it shows fantastic. Due to reasons I wish not to discuss the truck has not been on the road for a couple of years. However it runs, drives, and looks just like it did when we parked it. It runs and drives great make no mistake. THIS TRUCK IS AWESOME! Although it is for sale, I will NOT be giving it away so please do not embarrass yourself or waste my time with a low ball offer, seeing that I know how much was invested and what the truck is worth. Serious bidders only, not interested in trades of any kind. Only cash, or wire transfer is accepted for funds. PayPal for deposit only.
