Up for sale is a 1979 Honda CM400A - Hondamatic that runs incredibly smooth and sounds great. This motorcycle is one of a kind as it has the legendary Hondamatic system which lets you choose between a high and low gear without having to use a clutch. The motorcycle is a stunner, it might need some detailing but overall it looks very well for its age, much better than the majority of vintage Honda on the roads today. I believe with some elbow grease it can be brought back to near-showroom condition by a person who knows how to do it, which is understandable due to its low mileage. As for how it runs, it sounds powerful and runs very well. I used it for over a year as a commuter bike and I never had any issue. I did my own maintenance and never had to take it to a mechanic because something broke. These motorcycles are very tough, and if you keep your maintenance up to date, they will outlast anything. That being said, I noticed that when going at speed, sometimes the speedometer will suddenly go to 0 mph and back to its real speed, I think this is due to the speedometer cable being old and it should be an easy and cheap fix (about $12). Also, like any good vintage motorcycle it might leave a few oil drops on the ground when parked for too long. The motorcycle has a new battery, new tires, and close to new brake pads and drum. Front shocks have been rebuilt and they should last a long time. Also included with the auction is the original Clymer service manual in mint condition in case you'd like to do your own maintenance or want to ensure your mechanic follows proper procedure. You can come pick it up yourself or have someone pick it up for you. In any case, I will need full payment before it is picked up.
