Vehicle Detail

For sale: 71 Torino 500 original survivor. Loaded with 351C, automatic, A/C, PS, PB and posi. Sold new in Chicago, but went out west early on and lived a sunny dry life in California and then Montana. I purchased the car from an elderly friend, who bought it in CA in the 80s as a sporty but comfortable car to commute back and forth from CA to MT. He purchased it at the Ford dealer in Santa Clara after it was traded in by the original owner. It's been pampered and well maintained by a local mechanic and whatever the car needed, it got. It's a sharp looking, sorted car that's ready for Sunday drives or cruise night to the Steak and Shake. New 2.5" dual exhaust, Magnum 500 wheels and factory sport mirrors give the car that muscle look and feel. Exterior: Paint is original, save for a repair to passenger rear quarter near wheel, paint is a bit dull there and there's a large chip that's been touched up. Overall shines well and looks great from 10 feet. The best news is that it's a dry and rust-free car. Only evidence of any rust on the car was a few small blisters under vinyl top at driver rear lower corner where water pools. I had a local shop professionally replace the top and treat that area with POR-15 and All Metal. Some minor surface rust under trunklid rear lip, and on trunk floor as shown. Original paint is getting thin on a few spots, noticeable on hood. Glass is good and top is new. Chrome is good with no major pitting or damage. Argent paint on grille is faded and could use repaint. Nice looking car that gets compliments everywhere I go. Interior: Original and nice, really presents well. Everything works right down to ignition key buzzer. Only thing that needs attention is A/C doesn't blow cold. I had a tear at seam repaired on driver seat bottom. Very nice, no issues other than one small crack in dash and a small tear in rear sail panel. Original door panels, seats, headliner all amazingly preserved. Original carpet has some wear and some small tears at passenger foot well. Mechanical: Runs and drives out well, very tight, nice car. Feels like driving a 5-year old car. 351 Cleveland, auto, PS, PB, A/C. Stock other than a couple of upgrades - rear end was upgraded to Traction-lok posi, and breakerless ignition kit was installed in distributor. That's it, car has never been hacked on or thrashed. 144k easy highway miles. Only issue I can see that needs attention is that A/C doesn't blow cold. Vacuum controls all work, blows fine but not ice cold. No noticeable oil leaks or smoke, but uses some oil between changes. I installed the 14x7 Magnum 500s shown with 225/70 Firestone radials, which are in excellent condition. Original wheels and hubcaps can be shipped with the car if desired. Only noticeable leak is a small transmission fluid leak, and it will leave a stain on garage floor overnight. Ready to cruise as is, I took it to a local show last week. Pricing/Misc: With big block Torino GT and Cobra cars into six digits, and 351 Cleveland sportsroof models well over $20k, this car is an absolute steal at the BIN. Reserve is well under $8k for quick sale. If you're tired of fluffed-up Ebay rust buckets, give this honest original survivor a serious look. Low cost shipping to is available and probably less expensive than fixing an East Coast or Midwest tetanus car. This car runs fine but I would not recommend flying in and driving it cross country, it's an old car and stuff happens. Cell phone coverage is not great in this part of the country, and it's a long way between towns. Montana title is clear and open in my name with no liens. California plates shown and a set of Montana plates will be included. Buyer should get insurance when funds are sent. Outdoor storage is available for 30 days, after that a $100 per month fee will be charged. Link to additional including underside, I will add pics as my internet connection allows(copy and paste) http://s261.photobucket.com/user/burgundyamx/library/71Torino?sort=3&page=1 GOOD LUCK! Keep in mind that with all cars and trucks, THEY LOOK BETTER IN PICTURES THAN IN PERSON. This is a 1971 vehicle, and IT IS NOT A NEW CAR. Classic cars are old. If you haven't fooled with classic cars before, adjust your expectations accordingly.
