Vehicle Detail
This 1975 Honda CB550 has been my labor of love over the past year and a half. It was a complete, ground up, restoration that was taken down the the frame and built back up with nothing left untouched. When I purchased the bike it was in great, running, original condition. I set out to design it based on the 60's & 70's cafe racers, just not entirely stripped down. I didn't want to build a “You can only ride me on sunny weekends” bike. This is why I kept the seat style somewhat factory and retained the rear pegs if you want to take a passenger with you. I do have a CognitoMoto electronics tray that I will include in case you'd like to remove the side panels and hide the electronics. The tank and side panels were painted in a metallic British Racing Green. The seat was custom made on a new, powder coated seat pan and wrapped in dark brown leather to compliment the paint. Since the seat was built on an original pan the frame did not need to be modified and still retains the flip to the side function with lock. The front and rear fenders were trimmed down and painted in a satin black color, along with the headlight bucket and wheels. The frame was in excellent shape, so with some elbow grease, polish and wax, the factory paint cleaned up extremely nice. The front steering ball bearings were replaced in favor of All Balls sealed bearings and now turns much smoother. Front and rear wheel bearings were replaced as well. The engine was strong when I purchased the bike, but being the person that I am, I took it out, cleaned it thoroughly and replaced the spark plugs, set timing, valve tappets, and cam tensioner. Pod filters and a MAC Exhaust header were installed. The factory MAC muffler was replaced with an 18” stainless muffler that gives the bike a nice roar without being overly aggressive. The carburetors were taken completely apart and rebuilt along with being re-jetted for the upgraded filters and exhaust. K&S Technologies, LH & RH Controls were wired into a custom harness built by SparckMoto. A new speedometer was installed to consolidate wiring and instrument lighting. Neutral, blinker, high beam, and oil pressure lights are all integrated into speedo. The speedometer, Clutch, and Throttle Cables have all been replaced. It also has a brand new battery. The braking system has been completely restored, including a new master cylinder, pads, stainless lines, etc. It has new rear shocks and the front forks have been rebuilt as well. The new front and rear tires are each one size larger than factory. As you can see from the pictures, If there wasn't a part that could be cleaned and brought back to life, it was replaced. 95% of the bike is brand new. It only has only been ridden 16 miles since the rebuild just to make sure everything is functioning correctly. I could go on and on about everything that was done to the bike, however there are just too many details to list out. If you have any questions at all, please don't hesitate to reach out to me. I have a lot of pictures from the build process that I would be willing to send to anyone who wants to see. I will also include with the auction a bunch of spare parts. Now for the boring legal stuff: -Non Refundable- deposit of $500 must be made through Paypal within 24hrs of auction end and final payment must be made within 7 days of auction end. I prefer final payment to be made through cash, or cashiers check. I will accept a personal check, but it must clear before the bike can be picked up/shipped. This bike is being sold as is, where is. There is no warranty expressed or implied. I will keep insurance on the bike until it has been picked up. Once it has left my possession you must make sure it is insured. I am happy to help with pickup/shipping, but it must be arranged by the buyer.
