Bought this bike in 2004 during an assignment in Turkey. Rode for 2+ years and then stored in a TX barn until 2015. DIY tune-up and minor maintenance had it running in Ohio until it started blowing oil smoke on acceleration. Took to professional vintage motorcycle repair shop for $4800 worth of effort (have receipts for all work; 2015) :-Full top end repair: installed new OEM pistons, rings, pins and clamps; bored and honed cylinders to 3rd oversize. -Reassembled engine top end with new gaskets and seals. -Disassembled and ultrasonically cleaned all carburetor components, replaced floats, float needles, needle jets, main jets, and idle jets. replaced air tube rubber connections with factory originals; Reassembled / reinstalled; verified correct file levels, synchronized, and set idle mixtures-Removed advance unit and magneto, disassembled, bead-blased, cleaned all electrical bonds between magneto and engine cases; reset timing / dwell-Repaired defective points wire for magneto, replaced marginal ignition condenser-Removed/replaced leaking sump gasket-Changed engine oil / new locking file filler cap / replaced battery (BTX7L-BS) and installed OEM clamps (front and rear straps)-New tires (qty:3; Germany Heidenau 3.50x19) / New tubes / Balances wheel assemblies Stored in garage over winter and currently runs well.
