Vehicle Detail

1997 Dodge Ram Van 3500 heavy duty. Only has 88,000 miles! I bought this van 8 weeks ago for $1400 because I was in the middle of major renovations on my house and my pickup decided to break down. I needed something fast to pick up lots of building materials. It served me well but now I just don't need it anymore and it's taking up way to much space in my driveway. The guy I bought it from was less than truthful with me, but I will be honest and tell you what I know is wrong, and I'm pricing the truck at less than half of what I paid due to it's condition. I did not have the truck inspected because I knew I was only keeping it a very short time. I did drive it over 2000 miles though since I bought it. The good: The van only has 88,000 miles on it. It has heavy duty front and rear axles with 8 lug wheels and 16 inch tires. The engine starts right up every time and runs well, the transmission shifts smoothly through all gears. The seats, dash, and all interior panels are in good condition. The tires are good, it's very comfortable and has a nice aftermarket stereo in it. The van has front and rear A/C and heat. The heat blows hot, but the A/C blows warm, but the compressor does kick in. The bad: It had a broken side window when I bought it. The guy I got it from told me he ordered a new window and he would drop it off, but that never happened. There is some play in the steering wheel. I never checked it out, I just drove it like that. It has an exhaust leak, again never checked it out, just drove it. The transmission pan gasket and oil pan gasket should be replaced. They both drip. The rear end differential gasket also leaks a little. I drove the van 2000 miles and had to replace 1 quart of oil, half a quart of transmission fluid and I topped off the rear end fluid. The latch on the rear cargo door is broken and it won't open. The really bad: RUST! Some holes in the cargo floor, and the bottom sides of the van. The previous owner welded the rear leaf spring shackle on the passenger side. Like I said I drove it just like it is for 2000 miles with no problem, but I do not know if it is welded correctly or if it would pass inspection. I never tried to get it inspected. I lowered the price to $500 firm. I will not accept anything lower. The first person to show up with the cash takes it home. A decent van if your just looking to haul some stuff around for a while, I don't think it is a vehicle you can buy and drive for the next few years. Clean and clear title in my name. Since the van is so cheap I will only accept cash when you come to get it. I have the van listed locally also so I may take this ad down if it sells.
