I've owned this vehicle for 7 years, recently retired, and due to space considerations, I am selling this 1998 Mercedes two owner convertible. Very cold air conditioning (you need that here in Phoenix).The reason this has so many miles was that the original owner was a female lawyer in Alpine, California and it was 70 miles round trip to her office in San Diego. This vehicle has always been garaged, has the original paint, but could use a new dust coat. First the bad: Has about 5 dings on it, but the paint is good, the front bumper is missing the tow hook cover, I've repaired the overhead console, but it's due its age, needs to be repaired again (it works, though). the seats need seat covers, but are usable. There is a slight ticking sound, which comes and goes, It has to do with the timing chain guides or the top of the oil tubes, which is to take the valve covers off, and nothing more.($500.00 at a shop or less). This isn't a big job (check it out on the Mercedes forums). For an 18 year old car, it's held up well! Now the good: Only used Mobil One Synthetic, has numerous part change out for the last two years, NEW brakes, windshield, hydraulic convertible top cylinders, MAF, battery, radiator, coil packs, spark plugs, has K & N air filters, Has the heated seats and Rain Sensor option. All gauges work, no "check engine" and great oil pressure! If you want, there's another set of genuine AMG 5 spoke wheels/tires, but would need to have the rears refinished (got them like that for free). The "wood grain" is in excellent shape. Has the original radio and CD Player (works as it should). The LCD's on both the radio and climate control are perfect, the climate control works excellent! The car has lots of power and starts and drives smoothly. This vehicle also has the "bullet-proof" 5 speed transmission. It had the transmission's filter and fluid changed with Mercedes transmission fluid, very expensive, but a necessity, since there's no such thing as a "lifetime" transmission fluid and that was a year, ago. The transmission shifts flawlessly...I have all the keys, remotes and manuals that came with the car. The driver's seat is OK, but has the wear on the left bolster, whereas the passenger seat has as split at the seam. They're fixable, but to make them look the same you can buy the vinyl leatherette on eBay for $400 or go with leather for $675 for the set. If youHeads up!!! I do NOT have the steel top, but one can be found on eBay for $500.00 or less. The convertible top is in good condition, I had the rear portion replaced a few years ago. Look at my feedback, so when I say you can drive this home anywhere in America, I mean it (although Hawaii, might be a challenge)!! This is not a perfect car, and I am not stating that it is, but it's great daily driver and you'll get between 16-27 mpg, I am starting this auction with a low starting price.
