Opportunity's like this do not come along everyday! Here is your chance to own a rare piece of Porsche history. More pictures to be added soon. This is a fantastic canidate for a new restoration. This 1968 Porsche 912 Soft Window Targa is one of very few that remain in existance. The original numbers are as follows in accordance with the 912 Registery... Aproximately 2,564 Soft window Targas were produced between the years of 1967-1969 for the entire planet. Which was less than 8% of the total 912 production. Of those cars, only 1968/1969 models made it to the U.S. Of the total 912 production only 87 were painted burgandy, and leads us to assume only 7-9 of those were the rare targa model. This car comes with the COA from Porsche, which documents that it was a highly optioned car of the time. Eqipped with optional (5) gage instrument cluster, five speed manual gearbox, Stainless dash, and forged wheels, as apposed to the standard hubcaps. We have the last 30 years of ownership history, and service documents, including notes/photo history of it previuos restoration in 1995, where they changed the color from its original burgandy to its current white. This 912 has its original tools, jack, and owners manuals, includeding the Targa operation manual, and the Blaupunk stereo manual. The original Blaupunk stereo is in the car, however is not currently operational, but hey it's there right! which is a wow moment. I would also like to revise previous my previous statement. After closer inspection I jumped the gun on the numbers matching comment. The engine was rebuild at the 78,000 mile mark in 1994, in Colorado somewhere. When this occurred the 3rd piece that housed the stamped portion of the case was replaced by a new factory piece. That is not stamped with any number. This was a fairly common practice, however that being the case. I cannot provide proof that it is or, is not the factory the original motor. I apologize for mis-speaking. Also there is some more rust I found today when on a lift. Its is located in the rearward area of the right side floorboard, and I can see that there was a patch in a similar location on the left side. Nothing major, I'm just trying to be thorough. Please contact me prior to bidding, or positioning to win the auction. I would like to make sure we are on the same page, with regard to condition. This is a nice running, and driving example, waiting for a restoration, and no one can question it's rarity.
