DESCRIPTIONS and DETAILS. . . . . .and PHOTOGRAPHS 1978 Ford F-150 Standard cab Let's start that engine! THERE ARE PHOTOS UP, BELOW THE GALLERY PICTURE, THAT ARE NOT IN THE PHOTOS ON THE RIGHT. PLEASE LOOK AT ALL OF THEM. THEY ENLARGE IF YOU CLICK ON THEM. This 1978 Ford F-150 Ranger Lariat Styleside is a 2 owner, nearly original bit of History-- right down to its own, authentic 1978 Owners manual. It is a Rwd, 2x4 Long box with the Deluxe Tu-Tone Paint package, step-up rear chrome bumper, and chrome Grill options. The Truck was purchased over 35 years ago by my Father-in- law, from a friend of his, who had purchased it new and sold it soon after. Along with the Lariat trim package, it comes with factory a/c, factory tilt steering wheel, factory Speed control, and factory dual fuel tanks. With under 79,000 original miles on its V-8 double barrel 400 --6.6 engine, it’s powerful and ready to go. It starts fast, and easy, and sounds solid, and strong -- no ticking, clicking or rattling. I posted a video above this description ----of the engine starting and running. It has some after market add ons... a bumper trailer hitch receiver, CARR side steps for both doors, a trailer wiring socket, and an electric trailer brake controller. Of course to complete the sweetness, there is an under dash Uniden 40 channel CB. Also, you will rock out with the exciting, working, 8-track tape player---complete with a Tom T. HALL 8 track tape, and perhaps another artist or two--- if we can find more. The Tekonsha brake controller and the Uniden CB come with original manuals. The truck has had excellent upkeep and maintenance. --- principally garaged, and for at least the last 10 years, used only occasionally. The interior is in very nice condition. The dash is solid with no splits. The seats have been covered most of the life of the truck and are in super shape. There is one split of about 1/8 of an inch on the drivers side of the seat in the cream colored vinyl trim--minor and easily repaired.. There is a close up photo of this split in the ebay photos above. The dash gauges are clear and functioning.The entire inside is still richly colored and in super shape. There is fading on the carpet, but the carpet is still in good condition. There is a small loss of wood grain trim on the steering wheel from wear. You can see it on the outside edge of the left speed control button in the above photo of the steering wheel.All the glass is good. All the lighting works from the dash and interior to the backup lights. The tires are matching Lt235/75r15 steel belted radials with plenty of tread. The spare is full size and held on a mount in the bed of the truck. There is a hydraulic jack (included) waiting inside the mounted, lockable, blue wooden storage box-- also in the bed of the truck. (blue box at no extra charge) The Vintage Top Cap Topper has no cracks or breaks. The topper has a roof light fixture that is not hooked up. The original locking handle on the topper hatch, is not present and has been replaced by a hasp for a padlock. When the truck was new the bed was fitted with a snap-on bed cover (long since gone) -- It would look WAY cool with another one. The snaps on the upper outside of the bed walls are all present. The snaps that were across the tailgate are gone. The truck body, years ago, was repainted in it's original Ford Cream and Medium Copper. The inside bed and tailgate were NOT painted and therefore justly have earned some fresh paint. The matching swing out mirrors are "extend a mirrors" --in great condition and easily adjusted. The rust on the truck appears light and shallow. The rust represented in the photos is an example and is nearly all of it. I will be looking for any I have missed as we go and will post additional photos. You can see from photos, there is a small amount of repair needed on the outside SIDES of the drivers side front and rear quarter panels. A light swipe from a one time miscalculation with the garage. Mostly the chrome trim, and no damage to the hood or topper. For that matter, the damage is almost entirely in the Copper painted portion of the panels. The swipes were light and DO NOT effect anything beyond the running light lenses on the front of the front panel and the end of the rear one.The pickup was sold with some nice factory upgrades. It has factory speed control, factory tilt wheel, and Factory A/C. All of which work. The A/C is the R-12 type and the air is not a cold as it should be-- just needs topped off. The Lariat trim pack was very "luxurious" says the sales brochure! I have tried to cover all bases. I welcome any and all questions-- let me know what I have missed THANKS!
