Vehicle Detail

1964 Dodge Dart270 Convertible VIN: 7342595473 I’m often asked where we find these unique, original cars. One of my best friends cruises parking lots of retirement homes, Elks clubs, the V.F.W halls and the back alleys of a well-known Scandinavian neighborhood here in Seattle. He can spot a seatbelt slammed in a car door a mile away… He even notices when a vehicle is driving down the road with a turn signal on too long and he positively twitches with glee when he passes a rig with metal bumpers, especially if it’s a convertible! If you’re in the market for a well-kept, vintage daily driver please give this nice car your kind attention. You’re also welcome to contact me with questions or to discuss a sale before the end of the Ebay listing. My name is Mark Thompson and I can be reached at 206/914-1173 CONDITION: The photos really tell the Dart’s story. It has been here in western Washington since new. My next-door neighbor owned the car for the past five years and, after much coaxing, passed it along to us a few weeks ago. It has always been pampered and it really shows. I take great pride in the vehicles we sell and feel that you should know as much about them as possible. I believe, with the exception of a few mechanical replacements, it’s as stock and original as one could possibly hope to find. Here’s what I know: The first question is always about rust. Well, this classic cruiser HATES rust and you’ll be very hard pressed to find anything here to worry about. Yes, the Puget Sound region gets its share of drizzle, but rarely any snow so our winter roads are never salted. One snowflake and everyone stays home. Besides, this vehicle hasn't seen many winter roads over the years! Climb over, under and throughout, I know you’ll come up smiling after you’ve checked the solid, original fenders, floorpans and trunk floor! I have found absolutely NO evidence of past accident repair or replacement of body panels. Turn the key and the strong 225 cubic-inch “Slant-Six” fires right up with just a few pumps of the gas pedal, even when cold. Select the “D” push button on the dashboard and you're on the way! That's right, it isn't just modern cars that make use of this shifter style. 50 years ago transmissions were controlled by dash push buttons. Once moving, the three-speed automatic transmission shifts smoothly, just like it should, with NO slippage. The starter motor and brake master cylinder have both been replaced within the last two years. My mechanic just added new NGK sparkplugs along with a distributor cap and rotor. I do hear a slight bit of whine from the rear pumpkin, but nothing to worry about for the near-term as this will most likely be an occasional driver. Take another look at the interior shots. I personally installed new factory grade molded ACC carpets and pad (the floor pans still showed 100 percent factory off-white paint). Both front and rear seat cushions and backing were done a number of years ago and are in excellent shape as pictured; tight stitching on all panels, no holes or wear-through spot anywhere. Finally, I had my favorite local upholstery shop install a new soft top to factory specs. It even has the zippered, fold down rear window to allow great airflow even with the top up. Both door panels are original and in decent, above-average condition. The stock Mopar transistor AM Dart radio still works great. As my un-retouched photos show, the overall exterior is far above average as well. I am not sure if this is original paint, but there is no overspray anywhere on the moldings or rubber pieces. No evidence paint blended or orange-peeled in the jams, around the trunk lip or between the hood and fenders. The solid aluminum wheels pictured on the car are wrapped with all-season radials. I will also include the steel factory originals with their “dog-dish” hubcaps. Those tires are older, but have decent tread. They’ll arrive stowed in the gigantic trunk. This Dart really is a blast to drive and absolutely turns heads everywhere you go! Please feel free to contact me with any questions. You’re welcome and encouraged to stop by to inspect, drive and make an offer. Please BID WITH CONFIDENCE and know that you are purchasing a nice vehicle from a respected Ebay Seller. My main goal is be sure you’re happy with your purchase - and your dealings with me – with the hope that you might be back again for another collector car. I will be sending the new owner a free & clear, unbranded Washington State title along with a Bill of Sale. Because of the amount of money involved in buying a vehicle, we require that new Ebay members with a feedback history of five or fewer transactions call or email before placing a bid. If I don’t have this initial contact, your bid may be cancelled. As I’ve outlined above, the phone number to talk directly to me is 206/914-1173. Please feel free to call any time during the auction. My name is MARK THOMPSON. You’re welcome and encouraged to inspect & drive the car. You might also consider making an offer as many of my vehicles sell to smart “early birds” that call and work out a deal prior to the auction’s end. I always reserve the right to sell during this period. A Few Additional Terms and Conditions: A nonrefundable $500 deposit is due within 48 hours of the auction’s conclusion. The balance is due by cash or certified funds within seven business days unless prior arrangements have been made with me. I can accept PAYPAL, but if you plan to pay any more than the deposit through them I’ll first need to invoice you and ask that you cover the 3.5% fee PayPal charges. Please remember you are bidding to buy and I fully expect the winning bidder to fulfill their Ebay contract! You’re not bidding to hold or then come inspect and test-drive the vehicle later -- You’re more than welcome to do this before the auction ends. If you decide to have the car transported home, there are scores of companies to choose from. I ship vehicles regularly and suggest that you get a transport bid from Dependable Auto Shippers (DAS). They're EBay’s preferred transporter and will give you a fair quote. Call my designated rep, Brad Simon, directly at (908)290-1575. Give him my affiliate number (2362642) and he can pull up all our information for station-to-station or even door-to-door quotes. As an alternative, you might also get bids from the U-Ship.com website. You’ll be able to choose a transport broker from multiple offers. The zip code for pick-up would be 98002 (Auburn, Washington). The shipping of the vehicle and company chosen are the responsibility of the BUYER. The Dart can be stored free-of-charge at my location for up to two weeks after the auction ends assuming full payment has been received. After that period storage is $20 per day.
