Vehicle Detail

Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 My 1970 Chevrolet Monte Carlo This is the first year of the Monte Carlo. It was essentially built by Chevrolet with all Chevelle parts. Same drive train and interior parts. This car has a big block 396 (in 1970 chevy started increasing bore to 402 actual cubic inches) TH400 transmission 12 bolt 8.875 rear end, gear ratio is 3.06 I believe (Reserve price is very competitive...especially when comparing to some of the "interesting" 1970 Monte Carlos currently listed online.) ENGINE · Replacement engine is date coded 1971. It is an LS3 396 (402ci), around 8.5 to 9.0 compression. (Pump gas friendly) · Edelbrock Performer RPM air-gap intake · Edelbrock Thunder Series carburetor -extremely- well tuned carb. You can touch the key and spring the car to life. · Hypertech HEI with Chevrolet performance plug wires · Stock to slightly above stock cam. · Original heads, cast iron exhaust manifolds. (New bolts, so no worries if you want to switch to headers) · Very well done 3" exhaust with welded, chambered mufflers and nice tips. · Newer water pump · New under hood matting. · Wiring and chrome dress kits · Newer fuel pump · Chrome overflow reservoir · Chevrolet Performance valve covers · Hi output chrome alternator INTERIOR · 72k miles- driven weekly, so this will go up some. · Power steering · Power front disc brakes · Power windows (windows all work, the back windows hardly get used and are slower) · Working rear defrost, HI and LO · Deluxe shoulder and lap belts with retainer console · Full gauge panel · Original working 5500rpm red line tachometer · New circuit board behind gauge cluster · New OER fuel gauge, the sending unit works intermittently, needs to be replaced. · New OER clock · Working original amp meter · Working original temp gauge · Interior including seats and headliner in extremely desirable condition. · Previous owner installed Cd player, :( original radio gone. · Previous owner deleted Heater/AC to clean up engine compartment since he only drove it in nice weather. · 1971 steering wheel was installed along with the hood moniker and trunk moniker- looked more appropriate with the car colors. BODY · As you can see from the pictures the paint shows EXTREMELY well. It does have nicks and a few small door marks but they are not very visible. · Body work issues: under the carpet in the trunk you can see patchwork was done and painted and in the rear driver wheel well. It isn't very easy to see but I included a picture of the fender well to show you the small blemish 2 small spots where the paint bubbles, on top of the passenger window sill (odd place) and bottom of read glass corner. Both spots are very small and hard to notice if you’re not doing the waxing lol. · Underneath you can see that everything is pretty much covered in old dirty under coating and surface rust. Everything is really solid. · Air shocks in the back. · Under hood paint and cowl paint under the hood is so-so but the insulation covers most of it. What would I do next? · Carpet is faded, new is 179.99 on opgi.com for the highest quality OER replacement. · The engine doesn’t have a ton of top end- probably due the the cam and springs getting older and compression fading. · I would love to see this engine with a larger cam, new springs and thinner headgaskets to bump the compression...would add considerable horsepower. The rest of the build can support the extra power already in my opinion. I can email videos of the car driving, idling accelerating etc. On Mar-07-16 at 17:07:00 PST, seller added the following information: https://youtu.be/K-9m6xXX2y4 ***Above is a quick link with video of the car idling and some interior close ups.
