For Sale 1968 Mercedes-Benz 280SL SL-Class Roadster. This car was restored 12 years ago. The restoration process included items such as stripping the original paint to metal, auto body repair to fix dings and complete re-painting of the body. The windshield was replaced as well as all the weather seals. Front and rear bumpers were re-chromed. A complete re-build of the engine was done. The block was bored .020 over and balanced. New bearings, seals, water pump, and oil pump were installed. The head was completely rebuilt. The fuel injection pump was sent to California where it was completely rebuilt and the injectors were flow tested. A new clutch, pressure plate and throw out bearing was installed as well as a complete new exhaust system. New Bilstein shocks were also fitted to the car. The car has been driven less than 1000 miles since all this work was done. The interior was completely recovered in period correct red vinyl and carpet. The combination is striking as you can see. All gauges work, even the clock. A NOS steering wheel was installed. The radio was working but now is intermittent. This car has been barely driven and garaged for many years. This Roadster has a restored condition hard top and is in need of a replacement soft top. This car is believed to be #s matching but needs to be verified. The gas tank was replaced within the last year. This is a beautiful and fun vehicle and it drives just as good as it looks. It is available for inspection in the Portland area.
