Vehicle Detail
Good running 1971 MGB. Mass. Title says 1970, but the VIN decoder points to a '71, as do the chrome bumpers.Car runs, drives, stops and shifts like it should. The Overdrive works fine.Car was sitting in storage for 7 years until I purchased it in 2014. I got it running and installed the following new parts:New clutch master cylinderClutch slave cylinderNew hydraulic lines to clutchComplete tune up/ new cap, rotor, wires, plugs, air filters. All fluids drained/ replacedNew front brakes and rebuilt calipersNew battery and battery boxNew fuel tank, sending unit, fuel pump, inline fuel filterI'll include an indoor car cover that is less than 1 year oldOther things of note:Car has a period aftermarket exhaust that sounds greatCar has a period optional center console with accessories switches and battery ammeter.Top and tonneau cover are 99% perfect, top has minor tear (see pics) and has probably been replaced at some point.Aluminum hood is still in decent condition, although the paint is faded.Floors in front area are solid but the driver's side has been replaced at some point, trunk has one minor hole (see pics)As with any unrestored 46 year old car, everything is not perfect...Drivers seat and headrest have tearsCar has been repainted at some point in its past, it seems it used to be blue. The paint is faded and there are dings and chips,The passenger side door sill need to be replaced (see pics)Nearly all the rubber bits are shot (see pics)After "spirited" driving, the car does not go into reverse very well. This is a documented problem that is easily fixed by replacing a check valve in the overdrive. $200 worth of the parts to fix this are included, you can look up the how-to videos on youtube. There's more rust/ rotted parts underneath, generally around the battery trays that I wasn't able to get pics of.This is a very good candidate for restoration, since its pretty well unmolested and priced to go cheap, or drive it as is like I did...
